U of C Degree holder/Transfer Route Nursing Jan 2016

Published

Hey everyone,

The applications haven't started yet for University of Calgary, degree holder, January 2016 but I wanted to make this so we can all suffer through the application process together!

Post your questions here!

Hi all, Do you mind sharing the phone number that you are using to contact admissions? Thank you

The number I usually use is: 403-220-6262 and just choose the options that fit. I spoke wit the admission lady and she told me that the waiting list is their automated system that lets us know that they have received our application. They are currently accepting 3.7 GPA and up, but she did say it will go down. Also it will take about 2-3 weeks to hear back since it is a slow process.

So I guess it is a waiting game for most of us :(

Well it looks like I'm not going to be accepted... I called the faculty of nursing and evidently my senior level animal physiology course isn't good enough. I don't understand how a simple online course is accepted and the one I took wasn't... I'm still going to try and fight it but not sure how... My professor has since retired and the syllabus he sent me looked incomplete. Hopefully he'll be able to send a revised one in time :(

@ultra_violet: I think I've read before that "animal" physiology courses aren't accepted as human anatomy/physiology courses....

Animal physiology classes, such as ZOOL 461 and 463 from U of C were accepted for the U of C Nursing program. I wouldn't have been accepted without! I'm not sure about other animal physiology classes though.

The one I took was BIO 455 in the states and based mostly on humans. I took human anatomy in Quebec. She said because the endocrine and reproductive systems weren't on syllabus that I won't get credit... Even though we did in fact cover those systems

Hi everyone. Just joined the forum but chomping at the bit to find out if I'm in like everyone else. Anyone hear anything this week? I called today but the general admissions staff are all at a meeting today apparently lol. I just keep seeing that darn green circle in my portal.

I've called both the general admissions at 403.210.7625 and the nursing admissions at 403.220.6262. I only got the option to leave a message in the nursing admission office. Anyone else actually talk to someone there?

If you were to call 403-220-6262 and leave a message, they usually get back to you within 2 hours. At least that's what I've experienced.

I spoke with the senior admissions person for nursing last week. They're currently admitting 3.5 and above. Once they've finished that, they will lower it again and admit the rest. I believe they're expecting it to end up around the same as last year, 3.3-3.4ish. She said it'll just take some time to get through everyone.

Does anyone know if Athabasca or U of C is easier for english and a&p?

I took athabasca. It's very in depth and I loved it. Not easy though, covers a lot of material and entirely self directed. I managed an A+ in it though.
