U of C Degree holder/Transfer Route Nursing Jan 2016

Published

Hey everyone,

The applications haven't started yet for University of Calgary, degree holder, January 2016 but I wanted to make this so we can all suffer through the application process together!

Post your questions here!

Hi tparno, I'm a current U of C nursing student.. I transferred into the September 2014 intake and just finished year 2 of the program in April. I know exactly how frustrating it is being in your position so feel free to ask me any questions about the application process or the program itself (I'll try and answer to the best of my ability but I've only done terms 3 and 4 so can't give you any info beyond that). Best of luck!

Hey y'all! I just submitted everything for 2016 Degree Holder route but I'm from the US, so I hope my GPA converts to become competitive enough! My calculation gave me a 3.4, which was the cut off for last year. Soooo... We'll see :nailbiting: Anyone know how many seats they offer for January entry?

In 2015 I believe it was approximately 120 seats for transfer and degree holder combined. It's posted on here somewhere, but most people starting finding out in November 2014 I believe.

So who knows how strict they are on the English and/or comparative literature pre req? I have a language arts course (academic writing) and 3 humanities courses (LOTS of reading and writing) but worried they aren't going to accept any of those... :(

Might not be a bad idea to contact admissions and just ask them whether they will accept your language arts course. Send them an email with the course description and maybe the syllabus if you can still get hold of that.

I doubt the humanities courses would transfer over as English courses, but you do only need 3 credits worth, so hopefully the other one will be fine! Actually now that I checked the admission requirements again, your humanities courses will count towards your arts credits.

I have but the 2 people I spoke with didn't really have any answers since they aren't "evaluators"... I've sent in about 20 syllabi so now its just a waiting game. :nailbiting:

You're right! 120 seats.. 30 for transfers and 90 for degree holders. Some people found out late September, most during October, and others in November. It varied quite a bit!

90 is a decent number! Now I wonder how many degree holders apply... :wacky:

I also applied for the Degree route. so nervous waiting for the decision...

Mainurse, I saw your question on the 2015 thread and will answer here to make it easier :) My status is still as "see status" since they haven't added all the outlines I've sent in. I hope it changes soon!

Hi jmcl! Congratulations on finishing the 2nd year! How is it being for you so far? Do you like? Do you have any recommendations for us waiting?!?
