U of C Degree holder/Transfer Route Nursing Jan 2016

Published

Hey everyone,

The applications haven't started yet for University of Calgary, degree holder, January 2016 but I wanted to make this so we can all suffer through the application process together!

Post your questions here!

Hi mainurse!

my gpa from my last 10 courses was 3.6. I applied in Mid August, when did you apply? If you applied later this might make a difference on when you hear back.

I just left a message on the nursing admissions voicemail and inquired about my application status and if someone could give me a call back to discuss it. That's all! I think instead of calling me back they just updated my student centre. I recommend giving them a ring, just in case they're behind in updating your account. It's worth a shot! I really hope you, and all other hopefuls on this forum get in!!

I guess I was referring to furthering your education, getting certifications, first assistant nurse, the amount of overtime that you can get more than RT. If you go back and get a masters in management, its easier to move up to management. Please correct me if I am wrong @NotReady4PrimeTime, maybe I have been misinformed. Ive spoken to nurses and RTs in a few provinces, that was what I gathered.

Does anyone know if there's a waitlist to get in? How long is it???

I had a nightmare last night that a green dot was chasing me. :cheeky:

AHHH. OMG LOL.

I want to be a first assistant nurse too... Not sure if I have the patience to try again next year though. :o

Anyone else got in? does anyone know if they lowered the GPA yet?

I still haven't heard anything which is driving me crazy, since I'm moving from out of province and my husband will also need to relocate to Calgary, should I get accepted. I really hate that dot.

I spoke with the admissions officer earlier this week and they had a question about my anatomy and physiology since the school I took them through has odd numbering for each half (1109 & 1203), but that seems to be sorted. She said I should expect to hear by the end of next week. I applied with my 3.55 GPA at the very end of the application period, so I'm guessing that's why it's taking so long? Either way, I'll let you all know whenever I hear anything.

Also, @mainurse - I don't have fifteen posts, so no private messaging for me...

I got the red mark… :( really upset, but will try next year again...

@mainurse, sorry you didn't get in this period. Don't give up, try again next year. All the best.

@mainurse Sorry to hear the news. I'm expecting I'll see that red dot soon too. Very frustrated. With my undergrad I would have been in already so my Master's degree actually worked against me. :( If I don't get in I will be taking courses to increase my GPA. I'm assuming you will too - any idea of what you're taking?
