Hello everyone just wanted to see if there were anymore hopeful spring 2009 applicants out there. I submitted my application already and just sitting back waiting till Nov when acceptance/rejection letters are sent out. I know they said for us to check out emails everyday in October. If anyone has been through the application process before please share your experience. Good luck to everyone :wink2:
i got in! i just got back from work when i checked the mail and saw the two envelopes--they looked so thin to be anything but rejection letters. i ignored them for the rest room. i mean, why add rejection on a full bladder. i swear i cried and ran into my parents rooms, who were sleeping already, to tell them. i'm in a daze, i was prepared for a rejection. i've been running around trying to get ready for another nursing school's "provisional" admission. at least, i know in this acceptance letter it is a guaranteed admission, barring that i haven't committed a crime that i'm unaware of or been taking an illicit substance, which i haven't because i'm a good citizen:) i hope this isn't a dream. i've been pinching myself because it hasn't set in yet. congrats to those who have been accepted!! for the other hopefuls, i wish you well and don't give up!
Wow!! I am so excited for you! Amazing, really! I would have been freaked too had I seen thin envelopes, lol :chuckle
You know, maybe i should not have shared the fact that i felt bad, and what my GPA is. I am one of those that got accepted with an original 3.6 GPA and received the .4 advantage. I believe we should have all got in, there just aren't enough teachers to teach all of us. I have known for along time about TWUs competitive programs! That is why i chose to do my pre-reqs there and not somewhere else. I could have easily gone to NCTC or another JR college and paid less and done much better. I know some of you are really upset - i don't blame you ... you worked hard to get where you are too - and it is hard to hear you weren't accepted into the program. I have had nightmares about not getting in for weeks.BUT, please do not badger TWU or their processes too much - you should have known with investigation of the college that the advantage was there. Regardless of what my GPA is - the advantage is there. I have seen advantages given in point systems at most (if not all) of the Nursing programs. I came to this board for support and to give support -which up until now has been the case. Maybe we all need to put ourselves in others shoes before we type criticisms.
Then again, maybe i'm simply taking this too personal - and blowing it out of context. Either way - if we desire to be nurses...and we've gotten this far..then there is no reason to stop now. We are to go on and to great things no matter how we get there!
I know you're one of the .4 bumps, and I'm not trying to say that you're less deserving of the spot. I was fully aware of the .4 advantage when I began my journey, but it's still my opinion that it's not the most fair way of doing things. Some of my credit is from Texas A&M University, which is not exactly a blow-off community college, but I don't get extra credit for that. So, I'm sure you can see where I don't exactly think it's a very fair way of doing things.
No matter, though. The fact is, we don't get to make the rules for TWU--We don't even get an OPINION! If I had my "ruthers," I would like to see them do interviews. It's like some of you have stated--People are being admitted to the program on grades, but some don't make it through the program because they can't hack being a nurse. Success cannot be predicted simply by looking at grades/NET scores, as I think we all can agree.
Gotta play the game, though. And we do all realize that this admissions process is just that--A game.
So, anyway, nursing_student31, I know you're all chilled out now and not upset, but I still felt the need to explain myself a little better. Perhaps if I had done that in the first place, you wouldn't have gotten upset. Congratulations on your accomplishment!
Has anyone gotten letters of acceptance/denial in Houston specifically for the Houston campus??? I still have not received anything.
I also wanted to apologize if I offended anyone about the .4 point thing. You have to understand that we were not attacking you but more so the system. We all knew about the .4 points ahead of time and made a conscious decision to take our courses elsewhere. If we were smart, we would have taken advantage of it. Congrats for all those who were accepted, you deserve it.
I haven't gotten anything, and neither has my friend who also applied for the Houston campus. All we got in the mail today was an invoice from the dentist. I guess all of us from Houston are still waiting. Has anyone from Houston received any new e-mails?
I have a bad feeling that I am just waiting for a rejection later, but I will try to still have some hope.

Congratulations on your acceptance!! We are all happy for you. For those of us who have not been accepted, for whatever the reason may be, we will be going at it next semester. :)
Lets show some support folks. We all did out very best. Now the past is over with, look to the future and be happy. Rejection is just THAT much closer to ACCEPTANCE lol. :chuckle
