TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

Don't lose hope! If you read through the last application pool's threads, some people got in with similar stats, so do not give up! It looks like they really emphasize the first attempts, ambrekai said, which you did good on. Go to your meeting, and then turn it in and start praying harder because at that point it's out of your hands! Fingers crossed for you!

Your right! And thanks for the encouraging words ladies!

Yeah, **** ****** is REALLY helpful. I've had to email her probably a million times, lol. Let me know how your meeting goes with her Nicole!

Hi everyone. I am taking the TeasV on 8/14. I am taking Technical writting/ Sociology now, which is killing me. I have all my perrequiste for TWU. my GPA is 4.0. 4/4 first attempt A. I will be done with summer 2 classes 8/9 will only have 5 days to prepare for the TEAS test. I need advice from people who have taken it, on how to study. Thanks

I am SOOO glad I met with ******* (admission's coordinator) today! She verified that they have all my documents and test scores and calculated all my nursing pre-reqs to be 3.596. She said that I shouldn't worry much about getting a little lower than the competitive average of 80% on the TEAS because having the 3 out of 4 first time A's makes up for it, just what you guys said! She did say that starting at the end of June, transcripts from other schools started marking the applicants as "Core Complete" if they were. Since they received my transcripts before then and I do have to be core complete since I don't have the multi-cultural woman's studies and Math 1013, she said I should go ahead and request that transcript to be sent again to save myself a headache from when they start processing applications because they will email me and have me do it anyway to meet that requirement.

Besides that, she said I should go relax and have an ice tea because I'm very competitive and should not worry about the 73.3% score on the TEAS. I'm thinking more like a martini or margarita though :p!

I know there are many with much higher GPA's and TEAS scores, I'm sure you can REALLY relax!

Hello Akpanumun! Your stats are awesome! What I learned from taking the TEAS is definitely pay attention to the time! I felt well prepared by using the study guide and practice tests on-line but I have a bit of OCD that I believe made it hard for me to skip over some of the questions that I was taking too long on! In the study guide, they have a table that tells you the percentage of questions that are asked from each section. Any of those high percentage of questions that you don't feel as comfortable with, focus on them! Some of the questions are freebies but not necessarily the ones you don't get to if you run out of time because they are all mixed up in each section. So try to answer them all! When looking at the breakdown of my scores, my down fall was not getting to as many of the questions that were counted as a big percent in math and reading!

Good luck! :)

Hi All:

I would like to share my stats, since most of us on here are curious of each others.

GPA: 3.84

First Attempt A's - All 4 - AP1&2, Micro, and Stats

Previous Bachelors

TEAS: 86

I have heard they weigh each of these equally. So, if you take 3.84/4 (gpa), 5/5 (first attempts plus previous bachelors), and 86/100 (teas score) and multiply each by 1/3, I have a score of 94. I'm not sure if TWU uses this exact formula to determine who gets in the program, but seems logical.

I wish everyone the best of luck of getting in!

Great stats! Are you applying for the weekend program? And which campus?

And @Nicole, glad to hear that meeting helped :) I think I will schedule one with her when I finish my summer classes.

Just the regular program - Dallas campus.

Is there anyway that you can send me an email with the admissions coordinators name to me because its blocked on here idk if its just me.
