TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

Hi All!

I've been following this thread for a while and wanted to ask if anyone is applying to Baylor as well? I'll be taking my TEAS V test for TWU in a couple of weeks and am pretty anxious about it. I'm in stats right now and it is rough! I was also wondering if anyone is going to be taking patho at the Dallas campus?

HI Lacey!

Baylor is a great school but not in my budget! I'm taking Patho in Denton as well. I heard some rough reviews about one of the professors that teaches it at Dallas but at the info. session I met a student currently in the nursing program who is a tutor for Patho at the Dallas campus. She said the tutoring program has been a big help for those students who have taken Patho in Dallas.

I got a 92% on my TEAS! :)

Congratulations! So very happy for you. :-) you are getting in for sure my friend!

I took the TEAS test today as well. No clue on how I did. I def. prepared for it (studied for the past 4 weeks), but thought the test was much different than the practice tests. I purchased the ATI study book and the 2 extra online tests.

I thought I did well on the reading and math. Science had a bunch of questions that were not covered in the ATI book. English was ok. It was not hard, but the questions (like you said) were worded differently and there was topics that I did not study.

Applying with a 4.0...all first attempts. I qualify for the .4 bump, but dont think that helps me. already have my bachelors from UNT.

Hopefully I'll see you guys in Patho (Denton campus) this fall.

Praying for a good score on Monday.

Airmail182: I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way about the test but I'm sure you did fine! The good thing for you is that you have all the other preferences. That's what I like about TWU's scoring system, They are all weighted equally, so it gives you a little wiggle room if there's one area your not as strong in. But, I'm sure you did fine! Are you applying for the weekend program since you already have your bachelor's?

Well guys, I just got my e-mail from ati with my results and I'm very disappointed! I got a 73.3% :sniff:. I expected to get at least over 80%. I was so excited to take it because I felt prepared! I think what really hurt me was running out of time on the math and reading. Oh well, I'll just have to keep my faith and hope I can still pull through. The only advantage I have is the 3 out of 4 first time A's because my GPA (3.56) is right there on the competitive edge. Has anyone heard if having all the 58 pre-reqs completed matters any when considering admissions? I'm hoping they will consider that too.:uhoh21:

I'm so sorry! :( But don't despair just yet...I know the consideration on GPA, first-attempt A's, and TEAS is all supposed to be weighted "equally," but from previous threads it seems like they put more weight/consideration on the first-attempt A's. And you've got 3 out of 4 which is great!

I haven't heard whether or not having all the 58 pre-reqs matters any...

Ambrekai, I have an appointment with the admission's coordinator in Dallas tomorrow since I have everything turned in now, I just want to "dot my i's and cross my t's" and ask some questions. After that I'm just going to try not to worry or stress about it anymore. It's going to be a long wait until mid November when we get our letters!

What a GREAT idea! How did you get an appointment? Just call the Dallas campus and ask to make one? I should do that. I was going to call, but I'd rather speak face to face with her since I have a few questions and I think I'd make more sense off the phone.

And yeah I agree. I can't WAIT until November gets here. I've been waiting for this long enough; I'm tired of it. ;)

Hi Lacey! Not applying to Baylor - it's a little, okay, a lot out of my budget, lol! I'll be in path in Denton. Haven't heard very good things about the Dallas prof. But now they just changed the Denton prof to someone who only has one review, so who knows!

Don't lose hope! If you read through the last application pool's threads, some people got in with similar stats, so do not give up! It looks like they really emphasize the first attempts, ambrekai said, which you did good on. Go to your meeting, and then turn it in and start praying harder because at that point it's out of your hands! Fingers crossed for you!

I talked to her after the information session and scheduled it then since I knew I would have my test results back. Just call and make an appointment. Her name is ***** ****.
