Hello!
I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?
After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.
So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!
I am taking my Pre-requisites at Houston Community college.
According to the UTHSC-H transfer equivalent chart says phil 1301, 2303 or 2306
TWU: Lit or Phil, approved by the humanities block.
I would recommend printing out these sheets, I have the links below :)

All I used was the ATI TEAS-V study manual. What I did was read the entire book front to back, focusing heavily on the areas I knew I didn't know as well. Then I systematically took both practice tests and both online tests over the course of two weeks, studying everything I missed after each test. The online practice tests were much harder than the two tests in the back of the study guide! But I feel like they did a REALLY great job of preparing me for the actual test.And...that's it! I wasn't as dedicated as I should've been while studying. You will do great!! Just focus on the areas you know you're weaker in. Look stuff up online to supplement your learning; I did that as well.
Thank you so much now you can sit back and relax for the rest of the summer.

Thank u soo much!
Thank you! :)Yes for math you also need quantitative literacy (MATH 1013, I think?) unless you are already core complete. And then for philosophy, you can take whichever of the three you think will interest you the most. I'm taking Intro to Philosophy this fall!
That's sounds good. Thank you.
I took the HESI and made a 94% on it with a 890 critical thinking score. There is a book by the testing company. I want to say Pearson-vue or something like that, I gave my book to a classmate last semester but I bought it at my community college bookstore. It was only like $35 new. The hardest part of the HESI is the CT part. These are scenarios where you have to pick the most correct response even though they all sound like good choices and these all have to do with patients and caring for them. It hard to study for that portion and it's not in the study guide. Fortunately I took Pharm. before my test and my professors test were all CT type of questions. I had posted a comment earlier about applying to UTHSC for Fall 2012- they rejected me but I got a call about 2 weeks ago asking if I was still interested because I was at the top of their waiting list now to start next month! A little too late because we've relocated to DFW area but it goes to show- don't get discouraged!@ambrekaiI will be taking the HESI next month, would you recommend any material that was helpful?
@nici0513, thank you! You did A.M.A.Z.ing on your HESI. I think I know what study guide you are talking about, I believe they have them on Amazon as well. I purchased the Kaplan, nursing school entrance exam. I briefly looked thru it and it looks like it would be pretty helpful. I will probably need something that focuses more on math so I will have to do some research to see what others used. I heard with the CT part that if you generally use the ABC's (airway, breathing, ect) that it leads you to pick the more accurate answer. Yes, I remember reading your experience with UTHSC, weren't you accepted into TWU?
I'm applying to TWU for the Spring start in Dallas. I didn't meet the deadline for Fall because I was hoping for UTHSC. But, it all worked out because my family all lives in DFW area and they will be a great support system to have while in nursing school. I'm just taking Patho now this Fall at TWU because I don't have anything else to take.
Awesome! I love TWU! It's such a gorgeous campus. Where do they do most of the clinicals? Does it vary? Congratulations on all your hard work! ... Everything happens for a reason... :) Although its difficult to see at times! I heard Patho is pretty challenging. I'm currently taking stats right now, 3 week course, it's pretty tough because we fly thru the material. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else! I'm just glad I didn't try to take it online. Whew!

Thank you!!
And you better believe I will be! I should be getting my patho book in tomorrow; I think I might read a couple of chapters before school starts so that I can be on top of things. But that's just a maybe
I might enjoy doing nothing so much that I don't read anything!
