TWU Fast Track Summer '09

Published

Is anyone out there applying for the fast track program starting in the summer for the Dallas campus? I am applying. Will have my pre-reqs completed in January. I am very stressed about them only accepting 30 students!!! Does anyone have any thoughts, concerns, anything??!? I think I am going crazy waiting for April to come to know if I got in or not!

I didn't get in to the Fast Track, but I did for the Fall! (Yay me!) Would you mind giving me an idea (or even a copy of!) your schedule? Our orientation isn't until May 8, and I'm dying to know what I'm in for!

aggie, our orientation is also on may 8, so, it looks like we'll all find out together. i know the fast trackers got a sample schedule in our information packet that basically said "this is for crazy people, so be prepared." i woudn't be surprised if the traditional students get something similar soon.

the schedule for summer 09, which seems to be the most intense, is basically class from 8-5 on mondays and 9-5 tuesday through friday (fridays are off during summer 2) and then patho. online throughout the entire summer (june through august). or something like that, i'm just pulling this from the top of my head, but i think this is fairly accurate. i hope that helps...

oh, and congratulations on getting into the program, aggie.

Aggie, what I would suggest is for you to search for the classes you'll be taking via Webadvisor. This might give you an idea of when those particular classes will be scheduled during the Fall semester. We've got a sample of our Fall schedule but it's for different classes from those you'll be taking so it probably won't be very helpful.

Oh, I was hoping to take that Patho class online, too. I have kids, so it's hard for me to do classes in the summers. And we Fall people were "strongly advised" to take Patho during the summer to "ease our transition into nursing school." Guess I'd better get with it on registering for it.

i'm sort of curious how the fast track will affect registration. like, i wonder if we'll have first dibs on getting into certain classes, or maybe we'll be given a restriction code or something to make sure we get in since we're so under the gun to cram so much in so quickly. it seems like they've pretty well got our schedules planned out for us for the duration of the program, except for an elective sometime during the last two terms. oh well, i think we're all going to have to wait until may 8 to find out.

There's a restriction code they give only to the 30 fast track students, which ensures each of your spots.

well, there you go. thanks goopsy.

Me too... I didn't get into fast track but I got into tradtional for Fall2009 and Houston! :)

For the commuting from Ft Worth, I think you will find the TRE satisfactory. You can study on the train and then get off at Medical Market, and there you are. Also you are sure to find a prime spot on the train in the morning, since you will be in ftworth, the first stations! Good luck to all at TWU!:heartbeat:wink2::bow:

I'm going to try and call someone at the SON Friday and ask if I'll have an opportunity to do the online Patho. There really is just no other way for me to do it, and I'm scared to death to try to do in the Fall.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I can study, sleep or do my make-up on the train- all better than having to deal with rush hour DFW traffic. The commute on the train is only about an hour from my station to the Medical Market Station and I figured if I drove it, I'd have to give myself about two hours to plan for traffic and parking. It's just a little strange for me to not have my car!

Another question- for the orientation, are you all bringing your families, (husbands, parents, whoever) with you? They weren't very specific in the letter as to whether or not they are welcome. I know my mom would like to join me but I don't want to be the only one there with a family member in tow.

i'm not bringing anyone to the orientation, but i don't see why you shouldn't be able to if you want to (moral support and all). i'd call the school and see what the protocol is.

and i think the public transport route is definitely the way to go if you can. who needs the added headache of commuting everyday if you don't have to? i'm trying to figure out a DART route to the parkland area from richardson, myself, but i think it's going to be complicated and might take longer than just driving. any experienced DART riders here that would mind giving me some guidance?
