TWU Fast Track Summer '09
Hey guys, I haven't been in here in a while. Regarding the food situation, I'll probably just be bringing leftovers with me most days, as they said we'll have refrigerators and microwaves available. Keep in mind, also, that there are several hospitals within walking distance so those cafeterias are available as well.

Where do TWU Dallas Nurses Live?
If money's not an issue, then go for it. For me, it is. That's the only thing keeping me from moving out there. Rent's like three times what it is out here.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I can study, sleep or do my make-up on the train- all better than having to deal with rush hour DFW traffic. The commute on the train is only about an hour from my station to the Medical Market Station and I figured if I drove it, I'd have to give myself about two hours to plan for traffic and parking. It's just a little strange for me to not have my car! Another question- for the orientation, are you all bringing your families, (husbands, parents, whoever) with you? They weren't very specific in the letter as to whether or not they are welcome. I know my mom would like to join me but I don't want to be the only one there with a family member in tow.

Aggie, what I would suggest is for you to search for the classes you'll be taking via Webadvisor. This might give you an idea of when those particular classes will be scheduled during the Fall semester. We've got a sample of our Fall schedule but it's for different classes from those you'll be taking so it probably won't be very helpful.

I agree that the schedule looks pretty intense. I don't have a choice other than to work so I'm pretty much going to plan on working twelve hour days on Saturdays and Sundays. There goes my social life!

I called today and they told me that having it started would render me "temporarily compliant." I thought it was strange that we were expected to start getting them five months before knowing whether or not we'd been accepted.

Okay, so I made an appointment today for my immunizations and was told the last shot of the Hep B series wouldn't be until 7 or 8 months from now- obviously not within the time that school starts. Is anyone else in this dilemma? Do we have to have the entire series completed by June? I'm losing my mind once again.

The fast track that starts this summer is at the Dallas campus.

I actually live an hour away without traffic. What I'm thinking about doing is taking the TRE. I would still have two hours a day of commuting but they will be on the train where I don't have to worry about driving or anything else. I can sleep, read, whatever. The problem I have with getting an apartment is that I would pretty much have to live off of student loans to do so. Considering the fact I'm already paying off student loans from my first degree, I'm not too keen on that idea.

For those of you starting this summer, where do you live? I have a huge dilemma because I live in southwest Fort Worth and am trying to decide if I should continue living here for free and commute everyday, or if I should find somewhere closer to the campus to live. Any suggestions will help!

We have until the 25th to accept or decline the offer. They may be waiting until then to see if any additional spots open up before sending "rejection" letters.

Curious about debit from accelerated BSN programs
Jbeau said 4 semesters, not 4 years, so it is what OP was talking about. I'm starting an accelerated program this summer and what makes it accelerated is that the four upper division semesters of nursing are done back to back, so the program's completed in 15 months. My program is at a state school so tuition's only about $3500 a semester.

Jspacegirl, did you work while you were in the program or do you know anyone who did? The information packet I received today really discouraged employment, but I don't have a choice unless I want to completely live off loans. I'm wondering if part time employment is feasible.

Goopsy- My GPA was either a 3.9 or 4.0, depending on whether they considered a "B" I got in History, or took my AP score instead, (I took the course at TCU because they require a 4 on the AP for credit. I got a 3 but that's all that is required at TWU for credit). My NET reading comprehension was an 88. I hope this helps!

Prettyladie, call them first thing in the morning and find out what they're refering to. Do you have any classes that were repeated? If so, they may have overlooked the second time you took it.
