Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Fall of 2010? I got this idea from a previous thread and thought I should get one started for this semester, so that we can help each other and communicate with each other?
I have taken the Hesi-A2 and got a 74.8 on it so they didn't even look at my application. I live on campus so any help or information I can give just let me know. I'm excited and feel good about this deadline.
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!
I have a friend that just graduated from TWU a year or two ago, and he told me not to buy anything at the advisement session. He said get maroon scrubs from WalMart. He said he never used a penlight, and I forgot what he said about the stethoscopes... Anywho, I was looking on Amazon and saw they have a penlight set for less than $11, and they're colored! I'll probably go ahead and buy those.I finally got my shots!! I got hep-b and DtaP at the county health department. I went to a county hospital clinic, but they told me it would be cheaper to drive about 100yards down the road to the health dept. I had no wait at all. It cost me $5! I'm going to make an appt next week for the TB test.
Jazmin and Alyssa, do y'all know if we can turn in a letter saying we had chicken pox instead of getting a titer or shots for varicella? The form they sent us says nothing about it, but the TWU Health Services page says a letter is okay.
Well if i recall correctly we were required to have the titer done and we actually had to submit a copy of our lab results along w the twu immunization form...correct me if im wrong Alyssa...oh and btw alyssa...when i first signed up for this site I didn't think i'd be using it much so i always use my middle name for stuff like this...hence the "jazmin" my name is actually yesenia or jesi lol...im used to people calling me by so many different names. But yeah, I cant really say that i can put a face with your name either...the only people whose names i can say i actually know are those in my clinical group
We were required to have all of the titers and immunizations done by our first orientation session. But not everyone had them done, and I think we really had to have it all completed by the time our clinicals started.
WHAT!? All of them? Even the Hep B's? That's not possible when there's 3 doses to do.
With the hep b shots you have to have then started before clinicals start. And jus male sire you finish the series. They probably won't add an additional patho class because dr. D drives in once a week down Georgetown. A lot of us wish they would offer more summer classes but I don't think it's going to happen.
Jane - I think I figured that tuition would be about $5k a semester, not including books and other expenses.
Oh man! The woman who gave me my shots told me that the Dtap would be sore, but probably not the hep-b. She said I could decrease the soreness by moving my arms a lot. I think she likes to tell stories. I was so sore in both arms! It felt like I'd done a billion tricep curls and then beaten my arms with a hammer for several hours. Okay, that's a bit extreme, but I couldn't sleep comfortably or fold laundry for several days.
Does anyone know if the varicella shots are just as mean?

I went to the Chambers County Health Department in Anahuac. Google whatever county you live in plus health department, and see what comes up. My county has three locations, one being in my town...which is good because Anahuac is 30 minutes away. I'm going to get the rest of my hep-b there, but at the one in my town.
So now I'm just trying to figure out about the darn varicella thing. I want to email someone, but I never know how to address people in emails...so I usually avoid it...
