TWU Fall 2010

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Fall of 2010? I got this idea from a previous thread and thought I should get one started for this semester, so that we can help each other and communicate with each other?

I have taken the Hesi-A2 and got a 74.8 on it so they didn't even look at my application. I live on campus so any help or information I can give just let me know. I'm excited and feel good about this deadline.

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

The only thing I have received is a transfer scholarship for 2000.00. I hope there is more money somewhere..LOL. I filled out my FASFA and applied for Stafford Loans several months ago, but I have not heard or read anything about them. I am thinking once we turn everything in, pass the background check and drug screening, we will find out more info.

I haven't received anything yet, and I checked Portal/WebAdvisor yesterday. I turned in my FAFSA late, so I'm sure y'all will hear before me.

I hope so. I called the financial aid office yesterday and the lady I spoke with claims they received my 2010-2011 app on the 6th. I filled out financial aid for 2009-2010 in November for Lone Star College, and finally made changes and added TWU in March. She says that it takes 6-8wks for TWU to process all of the paperwork. I hate that it takes so long.....:uhoh3:

Do any or all of the scholarships you applied for say "pending?" I noticed a few weeks ago, that one of them says "denied." However, I did read that for that particular scholarship, they give consideration and first pick to people who are studying to be an LVN.

I have one that says "denied," and the rest say "applied for."

I have one that says "denied", as for all the rest, they say "applied".

Does anyone have any idea how much money we will need by May7th?

Did anyone go to the Sunnyside Clinic for immunizations? I'm worried I'll have to wait for a crazy-long time because I won't be able to go until late afternoon. I'm having a lot of difficulties with Walgreens. They either never have an "immunizer" present (which my understanding is a pharmacist, and shouldn't they be there?), or when they do have one, they say I need a prescription. Prescription? I've been calling people for two weeks now trying to get this done, and that's the first I've heard of a prescription. This is way too difficult!

Hi,

I am currently a J1 student at TWU Houston. I would be glad to answer any questions you guys may have...I'll try my best anyway. The semester is coming to end, so things are pretty hectic and I'm super busy most of the time, but I'll try to come on here every once in a while to check on this forum.:)

I think we are going to need between $300-$350. At least I that's around the amount our packet says. I'm going to bring about $300.

TXcatcher, I went to the Sunnyside clinic. I advise you go early in the morning, you should be in and out in no time, but if you have to, try to be there around 1:30. Go to the security guard. He was really nice. He will give you a number and about 2-3 forms to fill out. Once they call you, turn in the paperwork and pay your fee ($15). Then you will wait for them to send you back to see the nurse. If you haven't gotten your skin test done yet, try to get it out there where you are, b/c you will have to come back for the nurse to read the results.

Hi Jazmin, How are classes?? Do you like nursing school so far?? I do want to know how your schedule is. I have a friend who went to San Jac and she said she took a class every 8 weeks. Do you know if TWU does anything like this, or will we be taking the first 14-17 hours all at once? Also, does it count against you if for some reason you can't make it to class? What exactly should we expect our first semester??

DHaywood, thanks! I'm going to attempt, one more time, to go to Walgreens. I will just go to a different one that is all sorts of out of the way. I'm going to call in the morning to make sure one more time that they have what I need and that I don't need a prescription.

There is a clinic about a mile from my house that will do the skin test, but won't do adult immunizations. This is so completely complicated. I wish I lived in DFW so I could just go to TWU to get it done...
