TWU Fall 2010

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Fall of 2010? I got this idea from a previous thread and thought I should get one started for this semester, so that we can help each other and communicate with each other?

I have taken the Hesi-A2 and got a 74.8 on it so they didn't even look at my application. I live on campus so any help or information I can give just let me know. I'm excited and feel good about this deadline.

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

I was hoping to get my packet today, but nothing yet :uhoh3:. I feel like I'm behind because most of you have your shots, background check, and drug test almost done. Is it a big packet?

I see that most of y'all got together. I didn't find "allnurses" until just recently. So, I will definitely meet up with y'all next time there's a get together!

dsilverbear1, the packet was not much of a packet really. I just got a regular business envelope with some papers in it with instructions on what is needed/required of us. If I were you, I would contact TWU, because some of the things we need done are coming up fast. They pretty much want everything done before our advisement meeting May 7th and I'm not sure about you, but if you haven't gotten ANY shots, you better get started. The Hep B series takes about 7 months. The skin test takes a few days because you go in for the shot and come back later for the results. The drug test is random and it takes a few days to get your scheduled date. You have to pay first and then wait for the email. So, as you see, it is a process that takes time, that we don't really have alot of. Call TWU, don't wait!! ;)

i am a bit overwhelmed with scholarship stuff. i've been searching for two hours and keeping a list of the ones i found. one website (www.discovernursing.com) has a 23 page list of them. i only found about ten that i think i'm qualified for because most of them are hospital/field/state/ethnicity/etc specific. many, of course, have gpa requirements, which is hard for me because i've attended so many schools and have lots of gpas...some of which i do not want to share with scholarship committees. most require essays. i'll need to get on the writing wagon soon. it also gave me the idea to look up any trait i have to find a scholarship. i like cookies...is there a scholarship for that?

i also finally got my fafsa done. hopefully some financial aid will start to come my way! now i've just got to call about my immunizations and take care of the background check and drug test.

moving and getting sick have put me way behind! maybe i can catch up by the end of the week! i cannot wait for may 7!

hey txcatcher, thanks for the website, i will check it out. you may also want to check out these websites also: http://answers.hrsa.gov/cgi-bin/hrsa.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=119&p_created=1074870489, and http://www.scholarships.com.

i hope you are feeling better! :)

DHaywood - thanks! I'll look those up today.

Does anyone know how long it takes to process the FAFSA? I got an email today about mine not being completed yet. I got it done last night, but I don't know how long it takes for it to get processed.

Is anyone moving near the med center? If so, know any good and cheap places for us struggling students?

For me it just took a couple of days.

Hello

For those of you living in houston, I live near the med center (2min) and am looking for a roommate to move in late May. You can email me if you are interested. Thanks. I can give you details then and will ask about you.

Oh wow! Things are coming up QUICK! Well, I did call the program director and left her a message but she hasn't called me back. I also emailed her, still no response. Ugh! What shots are they looking for? Does TWU have a website where I can see what shots I need? I'm gonna call her all day tomorrow until I can get an answer and not just a voice mail.

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it.

You will need the Hepatitis B, varicella (chicken pox), dtap, mmr, and skin test. Are you currently working? A few days ago, I listed some clinics that were reasonable. Check my posts from last week, you should see it. I don't think TWU has the shots listed either. You are welcome for the info, not a problem. I hope this helps!! :)

This is the form you need for your immunizations, as you need them to be signed as well.... It came with the packet. So if you want to get your immunizations now, you can get started without waiting for your packet.

DHaywood- Yes, I'm currently working. I'm a pharmacy tech @ walgreens. I read your posts from last week. I will be calling some to get started on this immunizations.

bender83- I will print the form and get started on this.

Thanks again!

Everyone check you twu emails for info on a scholarship program.
