Twu Fall 2009 Applicants

Published

Hello Princess WannaBe and other special Friends:

Soon we will be going through the same agony we just went through recently as we sat and waited on the letters with decisions that were made for our lives at the moment.

We are all going to be positive through this process again and once again

I am positive, upbeat and excited.

TWU Nursing Program here we come:nuke:

Princess WannaBe and others on the waitlist we are still pulling for each one of you to make into the Spring 09 program. Yes, as we know anything can happen...hang in there:yeah:

oh... i don't have a 0.4 bump... 3.89 and 64 is all i got.

Prettyladie... to answer your question: what I meant by GPA cut off will be lower is the gpa cut off will be lower relatively speaking to fast track. If you ask me how much lower, that unfortunately, i could not give you a definite answer. i understand your frustration but all i can say is don't give up! You still have a shot!

One thing you need to remember is that traditional students need 32 hours completed at TWU to have that 0.4 bump, not 16 like the fast track. It is harder for traditional students relatively than fast track to have a 4.0 gpa and to have the 0.4 bump at the same time. So statistically speaking, the 0.4 bump for fast track weighted a lot more than the 0.4 bump for traditional students. i'm not sure if my assumtion is correct, please correct if i made any mistakes. Thanks!

Oh, that didn't know they needed to complete 32 hours at TWU. I thought it was like 16. Thanks for explaining.

Okay, so how do you have 2 Bs and a 3.9, and I have 2 Bs and a 3.85. Maybe I didn't calculate right! Or else maybe your Bs were in one-hour labs???

Confused.

Aggie,

I'd be completely stunned if u didn't get in with those grades! That's great! I have a 3.9 ( I got 2 b's as well) but I got a 67 on my reading section of the net. So you should definitely get in. Everyone's grade is so close and then there's the net test. See you have ALOT higher net test score then I do but my grade is .5 higher than yours. Theere are alot of cases like that on here and I'm just so nervous!

Oh...i'm so sorry.. damn.. i read it wrong... i didn't see the last portion of the website.....:(

"Non-nurses with a Bachelor’s Degree

The program plan leading to a baccalaureate degree in nursing has been modified for individuals who have previously earned a college degree to facilitate a career change for the more mature and experienced student. Applicants who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree must meet the University’s admission requirements for transfer students.Second degree students who complete 16 or more semester credit hours of the required non-nursing lower division courses at TWU and meet the minimum criteria for admission into the upper division nursing program will have 0.40 grade points added to their grade point average for consideration for admission into upper division nursing"

So i guess it is the same. My question will be: if students who has not earned a college degree, does that mean he/she need 32 hours?

It has to do with how many hours you have. If you have to b's and have completed 30 hours, or you have to b's and have completed 40 hours the gpa of the 40 hours will be higher because they have more classes to pull away from the b's. Does that make sense? How many hours do you have?

you won't believe me but I have 170 hours! :( I got a double major... it was a bad idea. The double major was a dual degree means that you can either get both or you won't graduate from college. I ended up have to take like 20 credit hours per semester or more to graduate. Believe me it was horrible.....

The only gpa they are calculating are the prereqs period!!! For us 2nd degree people it doesn't matter if u graduated with a 2.0 if ur prereqs are a 3.89 that's all they are looking at

2nd the .4 is only if you took 16 hour credits which everyone needs fast or generic track

3rd its going to be hard this semester. Generally more people apply for fall than spring. For the spring there was 600 applicants but 400 met all the requirements and they pulled from that

4th I think the net will determine who gets a seat if two people's gpa is really close. For example if two people have 3.8 then they have to look at their net reading score. If one has a 72 and the other a 92 then the 92 get a spot before the 72

5th from doing past searches on the cutoff gpa seems to be 3.7 for dallas n maybe around 3.6 for houston. Now I've heard of people from other students mouth's who've been in the program that a few 3.5's have gotten in but not that many. I'm assuming they were from the waiting list. With that said I think if you have a 3.7 or above you have a good chance of getting in just from past stats. Only uncertain we don't know is how many will have the .4 advantage

Thank you Princess for explaining.. that was helpful!:)

Yeah, that!

So, yes, I have a degree already. I'm only calculating the prereqs.
