Hello Everyone,
Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!
Lets Get It Started!!!
Thats a good score Bharvey! I take the exam Aug 27 and now I'm really starting to study for it! I really hope I do good. Did you just study the study guide from ATI.
I've heard that she does give a big curve. Keep us updated on the patho class! Also, what classes are you taking this fall? and is TWU the only nursing school you are applying to?
Does anyone know how many students TWU will accept Spring of '11 for a basic BSN?
not sure for the spring, but fall 2010 has about 95. There is a student to teacher ratio that is required by the state...I believe it is 10:1. Unless there are more teachers in the spring, it should be about the same.
misshopeful - I sure hope so! A friend took hers the same time; she got a 93%, so my 86% pales in comparison LOL. Yes, I just used the ATI study guide. I purchased the McGraw-Hill book too, but didn't use it since it wasn't updated for the newer TEAS version.
TWU is the only school I'm applying to. I believe I missed a date for something to apply to UTA, and I can't afford TCU. If TWU doesn't work out I'll go to a 2 year program, then come back to bridge my degree. Next semester I still have to finish off my governments, english and humanities. It will be weird not having any science classes! Are you coming from the Denton campus or another school?
Patho is going pretty good, actually. I've got an A, but it takes A LOT of time to do the reading, then re-read and google it to try and understand what on earth I just read! LOL
chensiqi - At the nursing forum in March I believe they said 110 will be accepted to Dallas, 80 or 90 to Houston.

Bharvey if you are going to sell your patho book I would be interested in buying it from you. let me know :)

I'm thinking about keeping it, just in case I ever need it again. I've kept AP and micro too. When I bought it, the best deal I found was actually on amazon. They had a special on the book/study guide bundle at about $90 total and was way cheaper brand new than any of the used ones I could find local bookstores or online resale.
For some chapters yes, for others no. Each chapter was different - some had multiple choice reviews, some had matching, and others just listed page numbers in the book to focus on. For a study guide, it seriously lacked in the review department. However, most sections started off with a summary of the book that I found helpful to read before I started the chapter in the book. So yes it was helpful, but I don't think it's essential to passing the class.
I completed my application, and called to confirm they have my test score -- nothing left to do but wait and hope!
Soo...for those that are applying for TWU-Houston, I STRONGLY recommend taking Patho in the Fall. I just finished the summer course at Houston and I just couldn't imagine taking it with all of the other classes in the Fall. If you can take it...go for it! There are bound to be some openings because about 40-50 of us took it this Summer.
Plus, you are able to become familiar with the campus and meet some really nice people.
My fingers are crossed for you all

Thanks misshopeful!
I was told it would take up to 24 hours for my test to be sent from the center to ATI, and then up to an additional 24 hours for results to be posted on my ATI account. However, I finished the exam yesterday at 5:30 pm, and my score was up at 7 am today! I scored an 86% which, while somewhat disappointing to me, still put me in the 97th percentile. Apparently the TEAS V is much more difficult than the previous versions, and the average has dropped 10+ points to 62% with the new version.
Good luck on your exam! When are you scheduled to take it?
Yep, I have her for patho. I'm doing it online though. The material is difficult and the book is HUGE and near-impossible to read, but she's fair and curves A LOT.
