TWU Applicants Spring 2011

Hello Everyone,

Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!

Lets Get It Started!!!

Does anyone know how late you can take the TEAS V and have the scores sent in time for Spring 2011 (Sept 1 deadline)?

I called ATI Testing and double checked with the testing center. They results are sent over electronically to TWU so they said 48 hours.

I scheduled my exam for Aug. 17...5 days after summer classes for study! I hope thats enough time!

Is anyone taking Patho this Fall? I'm signed up to take it @ the Dallas campus on Monday's @ 8am

I've been reading all the posts and im so worried that Im really behind.... I didn't even sign up for TEAS yet let alone study for it........ is it only available certain time of the year?? cz when I went to the information session they just said take it before the application deadline and sounded like it was available all year or something.. and can we take it as much as we want?? o and if we get into twu and take like one class there do we get the bump in the gpa??... and if we do how much do we get??

I'm really stressed about all this cz I Just decided to go into nursing not too long ago.... and ive been in college for few years already... o And thanks to everyone for sharing their information!! glad I found this website, this really helps!

WOW!! That was alot of questions, but I will try to answer them all. If you go to the website and look under the nursing program application requirements, you will find all of the answers.

My first advice is to stop being stressed. When I am stressed I find that I don't get things done...correctly. If you go to the website, there is an application checklist. Without that checklist, I would have forgotten some VERY important things. There is alot of information on the website that can seem overwhelming, but if you go by the checklist you will definitely get everything done. Print the checklist out...nail it to a wall if you have to, and keep it visible until September 1.

#1 Register for the TEAS test. It is offered all year round BUT...there are certain times of the year where they are really busy testing people (like now and the beginning of January). Because this is the time when most people take their test, spaces will become filled really fast. UTMB also has to take this test so there are more than just TWU hopefuls trying to apply. DO NOT WAIT TIL THE LAST MINUTE...REGISTER NOW!

#2 You will only get the .4 GPA bump if you have taken 32 hours at TWU. I thought that was SOOO unfair when I applied. After being accepted and in my first class we took a "show of hands" for who was coming straight from TWU and guess what....only 1 girl raised her hand!!! Don't worry about the GPA bump cause obviously neither did Admissions:lol2:.

#3 You can only take the test ONCE every application period. If you take it once and didn't think you did so well...tough cookies.

FYI (or just my two cents):

You will find that after all of the stress you are put through just to apply to nursing school, it was for your own good. I truly believe they are testing how well you work under pressure. Don't ever think you are not smart enough to apply. After you get accepted you will quickly find that everyone begins at the same level (of dumbness) and will have to study like crazy to become smart again.:uhoh3:

I am applying to TWU Houston BSN for Spring 2011 and got a letter in the mail saying I needed to fill out the application on Pioneer Portal.

I have been on PP for almost an hour and can't find anything even remotely close to a nursing page or application form. Does anyone know where to find this?

Click the link that says "Apply to the TWU College of Nursing"

Hello everyone! I've been browsing the boards for about a year now, but decided to finally register and participate since my time has come! I'm at Denton now, and applying to TWU Dallas for Spring acceptance. I took the TEAS V yesterday. I felt the science section was completely different (read: HARDER!!!!) than the study guide. Make sure you know plant biology as well, there were several questions on photosynthesis. And it is VERY chemistry heavy. I'm also currently taking Patho in summer school -- it's rough! Especially if you had Her, because she didn't make us learn anywhere near what we need to know for upper level classes.

I see several Houston people posting, anyone else trying for Dallas?

I will be applying to Dallas! Hopefully I pass my TEAS V exam. Do they give you the scores right away or do they email them to you? Who are you taking for patho? I am signed up with Mcarthur.
