Hello Everyone,
Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!
Lets Get It Started!!!
Thanks missmoe27. I'm also applying to other nursing schools that require the HESI A2 test. Can anyone help me about that too? How different is it from the TEAS V?
If I had to pick a test that I liked the most out of the NET, HESI, or the TEAS, I would have to pick the HESI. I hated the TEAS though I did great on it. The NET sucked...it was easy but very uncomfortable (scantron, timed, crowded). The science on the HESI is WAY WAY easier than the TEAS but they are both possible to pass.
Basically the HESI was easier for me due to the structure of the test. You can start first on whichever section you want. It took me less than 2 hours to take the HESI even though they give you 4 hours...I even checked each question twice to take up some time.
I didn't have a study guide for the HESI...I actually took the test out of town at the last minute, but the practice test that you might find online that can be printed for FREE will do just fine.
Apply to as many schools as you can (or can afford ), but TWU is Better!!!
If you have any questions that you think I can answer...just post them. I am not on here everyday but I do get on a couple of times a week.
How much is the registration fee for the HESI A2? Because I've seen some charging $45 while one school charges $90-100. Also, can you recommend sites where I can find these study guides?
I paid $95 for the HESI. I will look at my past study material and let you know the sites to find the information...it might take me a few days though
The only info the website provided said to take the HESI and the critical thinking part. Anymore additional information will be very helpful. Thank you thank you for the assistance missmoe. You've already been a big help regarding all these nursing application craziness.
Here is one of the sites that I used...it gives you a breakdown of the test sections and some basic sample questions. I will post more sites later. http://www.nursing-exams.ca/exams/HESI.html
Hey everyone,
Just had to come on here and say good luck to everyone!! I am about to enter SENIOR I semester at TWU houston :)!!!!! if anyone has any questions feel free to ask, although i do feel i need to warn anyone who lives in dallas IF YOU PUT BOTH CAMPUSES on your app, you WILL go to Houston...at least that's how it was for me and all of the people in my class. I picked both because I was afraid of getting waitlisted although i know for a fact people got in who did not have perfect credentials. Since TWU is mainly based out of denton, anyone who is willing to go to houston will end up going there. So if you put both, be prepared to move to houston- and it is very expensive to live near campus since the med center is basically like another downtown. Get to know everyone on here and find ROOMIES! lol any other questions yall have let me know! good luck and get ready for a CRRRAZZY time :)
Hello everyone!I am now in the process for applying to TWU in Houston.
I've taken the HESI A2 recently and did not do very well in the AP section...I will have to retake that after I complete my AP2 course this summer. I am also looking into applying at UT houston, UHV in Sugarland and Praire View.
Is UHV - University of Houston? I thought that the UH in Sugarland only had the RN-BSN nursing program, so you would need to already have at least your associate's in nursing?
If UH Sugarland offered a BSN program for non-nurses, please let me know! I'm new to Houston so if someone could please clear this up for me, I'd really appreciate it :)!

You are correct...UHV does NOT have a BSN degree for people without a previous degree. They have a RN-BSN program and a Second Degree BSN program. If you are looking for a BSN program in Houston and you don't already have a previous degree... TWU, UTHSC and PVU (all within the Texas Medical Center) are your only choices. If I am wrong, someone please correct me, but last time I checked... that was it.

I think the accelerated program at the Houston campus was recently discontinued this past year. However, they still offer a regular BSN that will take 2 years to finish. The Dallas location still has the accelerated and regular programs though.
