TWU Applicants Spring 2011

Published

Hello Everyone,

Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!

Lets Get It Started!!!

Soo...for those that are applying for TWU-Houston, I STRONGLY recommend taking Patho in the Fall. I just finished the summer course at Houston and I just couldn't imagine taking it with all of the other classes in the Fall. If you can take it...go for it! There are bound to be some openings because about 40-50 of us took it this Summer.

Plus, you are able to become familiar with the campus and meet some really nice people.

My fingers are crossed for you all

Sorry to be completely random. I'm new here and was wondering if I need to appy to the actual school early even though i'm not applying to the nursing program until next year, 2011. Thanks!

SoOOo...I'm taking my TEAS on Tuesday Aug. 17.

Should I go ahead and apply for College of Nursing or wait until after I take the TEAS?

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new here and I'm a TWU nursing school hopeful for the fall of 2011. I'm taking Q Lit this fall! All my other pre-reqs are done. I got some B's which makes me nervous. It sucks that they were all 89's or 88's. So that's got me pretty down. But all that to say, I could really use support and advice from all of you guys! How/When do I take the TEAS? How to I sign up for it? I definitely have to do well on it to even have a chance of getting into the dallas campus. Anyway, any info would be awesome :) Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone,

For those that have taken the TEAS V. Is there a calculator provided? Or do we do all calculations by hand?

Thanks.

soooo...i'm taking my teas on tuesday aug. 17.

i got this from the requirements page for the college of nursing. i highlighted the answer to your question:

5. successfully pass the entrance exam before application and admission to upper division nursing courses. entrance testing results must be submitted to the twu college of nursing by application dates. it is the applicant's responsibility to inform the testing agency at the time of registration to forward their score to twu. an applicant is allowed to take the entrance test only once before each deadline date;

i hope that by this point everybody has applied to the actual university. it takes them some time to process your admissions. if you have not done this...do it asap. you will not be able to even apply to the college of nursing unless your admission to twu has been processed.

I have taken the NET, HESI A2, and TEAS. Each time I took either test there was NO calculator. The calculations are really not that hard...it is how you approach the word problem to set up your calculations.

If you are applying for the Fall 2011 class, I suggest that you apply to TWU around November 2010. I applied and was accepted to the Fall 2010 class, so this is exactly what I did last year.

I recommend November so that you are not caught up with all the Christmas holiday vacations of the admissions staff. March 1st is the deadline to apply to TWU for Fall 2011, but the deadline to apply to the College of Nursing is February 1st (one month earlier). If you wait til February to apply to TWU, you have missed the College of Nursing deadline. If you wait til January your application to TWU might not get processed in time to apply to nursing.

The sooner you apply to TWU, the more time you have to get your CON info together. The earlier you turn in the nursing info the better chance you will have..."early bird catches the worm".

:)

I took the TEAS and I thought it was so much harder than the HESI! (I took the HESI for UTHSC and did really well on it). Hopefully I did okay on it; I really struggled with the Science and I thought the Grammar was tricky as well. I find out my score in two days. Good luck to all!

SerenePeach,

I sure you did well. I am taking the test on Monday. Was there something particular about the Science section that you were not expecting? How was the Math section? I'm kind of worried about the no calculator thing.

Thanks,

Kelly

brush up on your decimal multiplication like...

What is .005x.001?

Knowing that kind of stuff helped me when I took it last year...that was the older version.

Thanks, Kelly. There was a lot of chemistry questions on the Science question, and I was a little rusty on that. If you have the ATI study guide, definitely go over those sections. I don't remember anything specific, just being a little overwhelmed.

For me, Math was the easiest section, but I've always been strong in math. There was no calculator, so make sure you are very comfortable with multiplying/adding/dividing/subtracting fractions - (esp mixed fractions) - there were so many fraction problems, and to a lesser extent decimal problems.

Does TWU do interviews? Or is it based solely on your grades and TEAS score?
