TWU Applicants Spring 2011

Published

Hello Everyone,

Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!

Lets Get It Started!!!

I know this thread is super quiet...hopefully more people will join!

I stopped by the nursing office the other day just to make sure everything was okay with my application & Teas scores. Well, the advisor I talked to was very nice and she asked me my name so she could see if they had my TEAS score and it was a huge stack of papers! I wanna compare it to the stacks of white paper you buy to put in your printer and in that stack was my TEAS score along with everyone else who applied!

I don't think my TEAS score was that great either, but hopefully my grades and my A's on my first Attempt classes are enough to get me in.

I also asked the advisor what the avg teas score was coming in and she said it was all over the place and this was the first time they're taking this exam so we have nothing to compare it to.

Did you guys also see that they added TEAS test dates at TWU on Aug 30 & 31?

Also, this is just a thought. Do you think they got rid of the Hesi bc everyone was doing pretty well on it. I've taken it before and its a pretty easy exam in my opinion compared to the TEAS V. When I read through the threads from spring & fall it seemed like everyone was doing good on it.

It seems like the TEAS V is weeding out applicants as oppose to the HESI A2. Bc i know of a few ppl who did not make the min of the 64% which means they can't apply. As oppose to Hesi you needed a 75% min but it was a much easier exam.

just a thought.

That's exactly what I thought, that they got rid of the HESI because it was too easy. I thought the TEAS V was much harder and more challenging. I am also applying to UTHSC, and they use the HESI, but it seems everyone scored really well on it. My scores and application there don't really stand out. I kind of wish UTHSC also used the TEAS V, as I did really well on it.

I've been checking my pioneer portal every day, but I haven't heard anything from TWU yet. I did call their offices to confirm my transcripts and TEAS scores were accepted. Now all I can do is wait. It's gonna be a long few weeks!

Just a bit of advice:

Be PROACTIVE!!! If you have any questions about what has been received...CALL. Better yet, email so that you have a paper trail of who you emailed and their response. I don't remember getting any letter stating that I was all caught up on my application info. I did get an email right before the deadline telling me that I needed to complete a certain course in order to attend if I got accepted. You Portal Account will list all of your transcripts, but it most likely WILL NOT show up before acceptance letters go out. As for me, I just started this Fall and my test scores STILL are not posted...my transcripts didn't post until AFTER I was accepted. They do most of this type of paperwork by hand and it can be very tedious so be patient...but call/email if you feel the need to.

I have my fingers crossed for all of you and hope to see you all next semester!!!

I can't believe we need to wait until November to find out if we get accepted!

Hey! I applied last fall and started Spring '10. I'm about to start my second semester at the Dallas campus.

They told us we wouldn't find out until November too, but they ended up letting us know in October. You never know, you could find out earlier than expected!

Hi! My name is Amber, and I applied to both houston and dallas. My overall GPA is a 3.92 (all the classes I took were only once), i am core complete from Richland community college, and I hava about 91 credit hours. I made a B in micro and history 1301. Other than than, all A's. However, i didn't do so well on the TEAS exam. I got a 71.3. What are my chances of getting into the program? I'm so nervous!! :(

Welcome Amber!

Your GPA is great! and thats good you have all A's on your first attempt classes except micro. I wish we all knew if our test scores were good enough to get us in. But unfortunately we have no idea, just like Bharvery said...we just have to be the guniea pigs this application period.

One more thing before I take a much needed 10 hour nap:

Check your TWU email often. Even if they say you will not get notified until November...check it in October all the way through the first day of class. If they email you anything or if they have a question about your application they only give you a few days to respond. EVEN if you get a rejection letter...keep checking it. There are about 100 or so people that get accepted but not all of them will take the offer. Because of this there are always people getting acceptance letters days before the semester starts. After you get the letter they give you about 7-15 days to respond.

They will mail you an acceptance letter along with an emailed letter...at least that is what they did with Fall 2010.

Now...nap time!!!

Thank You so much for all your help misshopeful!

I applied for Spring 2011 semester @ TWU...My overall GPA is a 3.6 I took the TEAS at the last minute and I got a 72 :-( But I called a nursing advisor at TWU and she said that students that took Micro, A&P I and II, and Statistics and got an A the first time will get preferences..I got an A in my A&P and Statistics classes the first try but I got a B in Micro :-( ....Having to wait until November to find out if I will be accepted is very nerve wrecking...I am so nervous some days I have knots in my stomach...I wish everyone who is hopeful like myself good luck...This is my first time applying and I never imagined me being so anxious...

I applied for the spring as well. I'm glad they only look at your prereqs since my undergrad gpa from my previous degree was not that great. 3.55 gpa in my prereqs and 90.7% on the TEAS. Hopefully I get in somewhere... I also applied to UTMB, UTHSC, OU, TAMU college station and round rock and UTSAHSC.

Hi everyone,

Well..I am so anxious now...I got overall gpa around 3.4...I am an international student here...when I first come here to school, I didn't do so well on prerequisite.

I got some Cs.....I got C for intro to Psychology and A&P I, B for Microbiology, A for A&P II, statistics, Nutrition, Developmental Psychology, Chemistry and Intro to Sociology. My Teas score is 72%... Do I still have the chance to get in? I have to say you all are so great at your Teas and GPA!

Anyway, Good luck to everyone!
