Hello Everyone,
Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!
Lets Get It Started!!!
Hi all! I have been using this website for a while now to get information on (and stress over) getting into the TWU nursing program. I thought it was about time that I join in on all of the posts.
I am completely stressed about getting into the Spring 2011 program at TWU (like everyone else, I think). I only applied to TWU Dallas...I do not want to move to Houston. I didn't apply to any of the surrounding schools b/c I thought there was a class or two that they required as a preq. that I do not have. SO...I am keeping my fingers crossed with Dallas. I am happy with all of my grades in the key classes. I received A's in all of my science and math classes the first time around. However, I did not receive great grades when I took my English, history, and art appreciation classes 10 years ago so my GPA is a 3.75 (without the bump). Hopefully I can make up a little ground with my TEAS score...I made a 95 (99th percentile) but I wonder how much the exam really matters...
I wish everyone the best of luck!!
BTW...has anyone heard of an official number of people that applied by the Sept. 1st deadline? I heard more people apply for the Spring start than the Fall start...not sure if that's true.
SEargle- Your TEAS score is great! If I were you I wouldn't be worried, lol. Especially since you have all A's in your science and math. It's my understanding that's the first consideration; then test score, then overall GPA.
I had all A's in my lectures, but a B (89.4! ugh, darn absences!) in micro lab. So that completely negates my lecture grade.
Hi all!
I applied to TWU in Dallas for the weekend program in the spring. By reading this thread, I'm discouraged to find out we have to wait till November!! Ugh... I have been checking my TWU email account like 5 times a day :/ I'm that anxious, like I'm sure most of you all are too! I'm glad I found this thread so I can join in and hopefully meet you all in Jan! Does anyone know how many students they are allowing into the program?
Hey guys,
I was just browsing through the TWU nursing website and I saw this.
"All applicants who are currently participating in the Honors Scholar Program at TWU and meet the minimum requirements for admission to upper division nursing courses are automatically granted admission to upper division nursing courses. "
So I'm assuming this means anyone who applied to the nursing program that is in the Honors Scholar program has a spot waiting for them for next semester.
November is such a long time away! :anbd:
@ Aggie girl, I think they accept 100 for Houston & 100 for Dallas.
Hey misshopeful! How's patho going?
You are correct- anyone in the honors program is automatically accepted as long as they meet the minimum gpa/teas requirement. Now I'm sure this is not the typical case, but two of the students in my micro class were in the honors program, and they had some of the lowest grades in the class. Of course, one of them admitted she wasn't trying since she knew she'd get in. Which she did, for fall 2010 with a C in micro (which I think is all you need to stay in the honors program) and I think ap as well.
I know they have to have some sort of standard application process - and with that some who deserve it will get left out and some who don't will get in -but in instances like that it just kinda sucks!

Oh goodness! Its like they're making it even more competitive- applicants are competing for spots ONLY AFTER every Honors Scholar who met the minimum requirement is given a spot. I can only hope that the majority of the applicants in the program are nothing like the two students you mentioned.
Another disadvantage we have this semester is that with the fast track being canceled, all of those would-be applicants are now in our pool to compete for regular or weekend program too.
But, it'll be ok! What's meant to be, will be; right? And hopefully soon they'll increase the teaching staff at the new facility and be able to accept more applicants in the near future.
