Hello Everyone,
Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!
Lets Get It Started!!!
I notice some of you mention about the TNSA. I just want to ask if what are the benefits of joining TNSA.
The benefits are: socialization with other professional students, receiving information & guidance about the field, support and encouragement, networking and who knows what else? I plan to join, too, but not on the Dec 10. Price is too steep for me.

There are free lunches during the meetings, guest speakers, group volunteer opportunities, T-shirts...just to add to the list above.
I'm definitely thinking about joining TNSA.Has anybody received anything else from TWU? For some reason I thought we would be getting a packet in the mail. I know they sent us that email last week for the background checks and what not.
I think the "packet" is the info sent out about advisement day, orientation, etc...
On this coming orientation on December 10th, when we register for the classes are we going to pay on that day? Will they accept payment plans? I also want to ask if what is the estimate money should we bring during that day.
I understand the cost of TNSA to be $100 and the uniforms $150?? It should be in the letter you received (will receive?) about the dec 10.
MISSMOE:
Hi there. Just wondering if you could share your schedule with us. I'm curious just how many times a week I will have to wake up at 4am just to be to class by 6 or 7. I value my sleep, so I'd like to get started hibernating now, lol.
Also wondering what your fist classes were. I've tried time and time again to understand our possible scdl of classes, but once again came up short, so can you please just enlighten us with a lil snippit of your weekly routine?
Also, is Concepts class like theory/history, and do they offer tutoring? If so, is it with the instructors?
Thanks!

You will only have 1 clinical during your first semester, so should only have to wake up before the sun one day a week.
There is no way that you will be able to understand the schedule by looking online. I tried that when I got accepted and it was impossible. Once you get to Orientation, they will tell you what group you will be in which will determine when you have Assessment lab, Concepts Lab, and your Concepts/Clinical rotation. I will try to find a previous post that I put on here to help explain all of that confusion for anyone that could benefit from it.
As for my schedule (which will more than likely NOT be anything like your schedule), here are the times I am in class:
Monday: 9am-4:20pm
Tuesday: 4pm-7pm
Wednesday: 9am-1:30am
Thursday: my clinical day 6am- 2:30pm
Friday, Saturday, Sunday......FREEDOM...sort of
This does not include any of the numberous hours studying, tutoring sessions, lab practices, clinical prep or hospital pre-clinical(manditory). It also doesn't include Patho because I have already taken it (that will add another 4 hours worth of lecture).
I was blessed to have a somewhat easier schedule with weekends off:yeah:. Some people have their clinical on Friday, Saturday, at night, or on days that they also have lecture classes:down:. You have no control over any part of your schedule.
If you are currently working and plan to continue to work when the semester starts, it is best that you WAIT until you fully understand YOUR schedule before you make any changes to your work schedule. I personally quit my job as soon as I got my acceptance letter:rolleyes: and I don't regret it!!!
As for my routine...I sleep whenever I can, eat snacks throughout the day (no real meals), and study continuously (even in my dreams).
Oh, and Concepts is like nursing 101. It is 5 credits and includes your clinical rotation.
