I am trying to decide whether to get a wrist watch like a baby g, that could be easily wiped down with alcohol, or some kind of clip on watch, or something you would just carry in your pocket. Is it annoying to have to deal with your wrist watch when washing your hands so frequently??? I suppose you could also just carry any wrist watch in your pocket if it got in the way. What do you guys think???

Hey TXcatcher, you said you park in the garage...How do they charge you by the month? Ex: What about when you start the semester half way through January, or when the semester ends half way through the month? Do you get charged by the month regardless, do they prorate it, or charge you for 30 days or something? Just wondering. Also, what about a BP cuff? Did you have to buy one of those? AND is a certain type of wrist watch required? Thanks for all your help :)

Is there any software we need that's not compatible with mac? *Do intructors allow laptops in lecture? or recorders? *Do any of the current students use smartphones/pda for reference apps? *Is it necessary to lug books around to class? *Do we need the patho book? *What is the specific healthcare provider CPR we need? Hey guys! I have been posting on the Houston thread..thought I'd get in on the action here! Before you stress... It is my understanding from reading posts on other twu threads that it is NOT mandatory to buy all the stuff on dec. 10th, but you have the option. (I think it's more of a fundraiser for TNSA) I'm not sure if it's required to join tnsa, call and ask. (maybe you can join at a later date?) The cpr class is required of course, I don't think it's any cheaper elsewhere. Idk? I'm pretty sure you need it before enrolling in courses. We don't have to buy uniforms and supplies through the school...we won't need all that until we start clinicals anyway! So I'm going to find out what I need on the 10th, and then find the cheapest price and buy online. And I'm sure you can buy your books where ever you want too (bookstore, find them used, online, from previous students selling books) whatever is cheapest as long as it's the correct book! (IF ANY CURRENT STUDENTS WOULD LIKE TO TELL US IF ANY BOOKS ARE UNNECESSARY THAT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IN THE FUTURE :)) A good idea would be to ask your family/friends for some of your supplies as holiday gifts!! Or just plain cash/gift cards would be grrrrreat! I dunno about tuition total...that seems steep, unless that includes books ...but I'd like to know as well! IF ANYONE HAS A CLUE ABOUT THIS STUFF, OR WANTS TO CORRECT ME FEEL FREE! :)

I live in Missouri City, about 15-16 mi from campus. Too close to really carpool with anyone I'm afraid, but I guess that's not a bad thing. About half of my travel time will be spent sitting at traffic lights.

Glad to help! I didn't want you to make a terrible mistake!! (and I sure wouldn't want to take phil if I didn't have to) ...Nope, I will be starting in January! I have just thoroughly searched the TWU website for my own good to make sure I had all the right courses since I have a few transcripts under my belt. Can't wait to meet everyone!

Yes, check with TWU first!! Don't drop your phil class, unless you have already taken a literature class that will transfer to TWU. You may have otherwise been accepted to the program based on the fact that you would complete the Phil/Lit requirement before the start of the TWU nursing program. A 3hr PHIL OR LIT class is required for TWU. (the only way to get around it is if you have completed a core curriculum at a TEXAS school) The classes you have listed above are only the "core courses" for the nursing program. So, whether or not a student is "core complete" at a TX school (meaning they completed a core curriculum at a TX school), they must take the classes you listed above. However, if you are a transfer student, and have not completed a core curriculum at another TX school you must complete all the courses listed under "Required Courses" on the twu website...as well as the "core courses" you listed. (some of the courses overlap and are on both lists) (I just looked at the twu website and the terminology they use... "core" and "required" seems mixed up and confusing...but I hope I cleared it up a bit)

Phil is not specifically required at TWU...you may take Philosophy or Literature (3hrs credit).

Well, a "w" is better than an F, if you are ever worried about failing. You can only get a W if you drop the course before the school's drop deadline...otherwise you get the grade you get. You are only allowed 6 Ws, after that you have to complete all courses.
