Would you work in a place or continue working in a place that would turn down someone because of their skin color? wouldn't the hospital or nursing home etc etc wouldn't they have a huge law suit if that happen?

They would have to prove it. And no, I would not work for a place that practiced this, since I am bicultural.

I would not either..in fact I left a place of employment once when I found out that they did not and would not hire persons of color. We are all people not colors and color should not matter.

What I WOULD DO, if you are reasonably certain about this, is report it to Medicare and the State agency.

Because most places depend on medicare/medicaid for payments, they simply MUST comply with Federal Law regarding discrimination. Failure to do so will not only result in fines, but in withdrawal of primary payments.

It would be an easy matter for a governing agency to validate your suspicions. They need only compare the demographics of your facility with the demographics of its local community.

i don't think anyone in their right mind would consciously reject admissions of a person based on their color.

there are too many laws protecting against discrimination.

who would get away with it?

they can turn you away because of an inability to pay, but you need to be stable for transfer.

It's never okay to discriminate.

I find it hard to believe that a nurse of any color would have a difficult time finding a job. My husband has been passed for promotions because he is white- naturally, I am annoyed when I start hearing anything that is remotely similiar to "anti white" thought.

I hate these discussions because I think MOST of the encounters I've had with race issues have been twisted and massaged to suit the person who wants to hold on to the "victim mentality."

Oh, and one of my friends is African American, (translates= american).

I absolutely wouldn't work for a facility that refused residents based on race, creed, ethnicity, or color.

Is this a hypothetical question or did this actually occur? If it did, what type of facility was it?

Is there proof of this? Report it to the state and federal agencies, that will cause a different tune to be sung.

many many years age this did happen. i don't know that it is happen now but it could be. matter of fact discriminate was never used back than. but is it really taken seriously like it should be?
