Trump's DERP State

Published

Confirmation Hearings for the Trump's incredibly bad choices for cabinet leadership positions.  Traitors, drunks, rapists, pet killers and television personalities were the first choice of the mentally ill old man.

My Senator, Dan Sullivan is all over his social media singing the praises of these folk so we should expect most of them to be confirmed.

Hegseths hearing should be starting about now.

Staff of the Federal Emergency Management Agency were confused and dispirited on Monday after the acting head of the agency said during a daily briefing that he had not been aware the country has a hurricane season, according to three sources familiar with the meeting.

3 sources.

This might be the derpiest thing yet to come out of the cabinet ... there is steep competition.

It was a joke.  Kind of like the fake apology from Senator Joni Ernst over what people thought was a bit of a crude response.  (Yes people may have been overreacting but she's a Senator and could have bit a tad bit more professional in response).

What I see is some politicians are playing by a Trump playbook, but don't understand that only Trump can be Trump.  Trump gets overlooked for all the crazy things and "jokes" he makes because he's Trump.  Other politicians not so much.  Ernst is getting considerable backlash.

There's a big bunch of money for these private prisons earmarked in this P2025 legislation before the Senate.

This is my surprised face! 🙄

They did the work.  They met the criteria.  Trump denies them the promised commission.

My heart breaks for them, putting in all that hard work.  On the White House page about DEI it says:  President Trump believes that hiring in all parts of government should be based solely on merit.

Apparently this doesn't count qualified transgendered persons.

Isn't Trump's policy in this regard actual evidence that it isn't about merit?  Not at all about merit.

Here's an interesting source for an intersting story published by a media source with a paywall.

https://www.containerlift.co.uk/detained-in-djibouti-ice-officers-and-migrants-trapped-in-legal-limbo-and-dangerous-conditions/

Quote

In an extraordinary and troubling episode of international migration policy gone awry, eight deportees and thirteen U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers are trapped in a converted shipping container at a U.S. naval facility in Djibouti. The group was caught mid-deportation after a federal judge blocked their forced removal to South Sudan—a country none of the migrants were originally from.

What was supposed to be a straightforward deportation flight has descended into a diplomatic, legal, and humanitarian crisis, highlighting critical flaws in the U.S. immigration and deportation system.

Quote

While the legal battle unfolds in U.S. courts, those on the ground are facing deteriorating conditions:

The group is confined to a modified shipping container, previously used as a military conference room.

Only six beds are available for 13 ICE officers, forcing many to sleep on floors or share bunks.

Temperatures in Djibouti regularly surpass 100°F (38°C) during the day, turning the steel container into an oven.

Limited ventilation and no standard medical care have led to widespread illness within 72 hours of arrival—symptoms consistent with bacterial upper respiratory infections have been reported.

One DHS official described the environment as a "logistical and humanitarian nightmare,” noting that malaria medication had not been administered prior to deployment, leaving detainees and officers alike vulnerable to infection.

Quote

This incident exposes troubling questions about deportation tactics, legal overreach, and respect for international human rights law. The Biden administration has come under scrutiny for allowing ICE to carry out mass deportations with minimal legal oversight—especially when those efforts involve routing people to countries with which they have no connection or safety assurances.

Civil rights advocates warn that such practices may violate international laws governing refoulement—a principle that bars countries from deporting individuals to places where they may face harm, persecution, or statelessness.

Don't you think they meant the Trump administration?

Quote

The shipping container has long symbolised the global trade machine, but in this case, it's become a grim metaphor for the commodification of people caught in immigration limbo. Once a vessel for cargo, it's now housing men and women whose lives are being handled with all the grace of misplaced freight.

This episode mirrors broader patterns across Europe and North America, where increasingly militarised immigration systems attempt to outsource their responsibilities to other nations, often through fragile or exploitative arrangements.

Do you think that the administration will prioritize the needs of the ICE agents?

Hegseth Wants to Rename 8 Naval Ships.

Hegseth only wants us to remember and honor some of the veterans and warriors. We aren't supposed to be able to see the differentiation that his bigotry requires us to accept.

While Milk is a Navy Veteran these fleet of ships were to honor civil rights activists.  Not all were veterans and war heroes.  I ain't mad at him for honoring D-Day (even if he made it about himself and his PT and didn't put up a D-Day pic in that post)

I heard a figure of $400K to rename the ship and am looking for some validation of that figure.

Here's a derp decision from Trump's Derp State

https://www.statnews.com/2025/06/09/rfk-jr-fires-every-member-of-CDC-vaccine-expert-panel-acip/

Quote

Health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has taken the extraordinary step of firing the expert panel that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on immunizations, saying the action is needed to restore faith in vaccines.

"A clean sweep is needed to re-establish public confidence in vaccine science,” Kennedy said in an op-ED published Monday afternoon in the Wall Street Journal.

It makes sense, of course.  You can't have actual expertise in those positions when your intention is to dismantle public vaccination recommendations using baloney science and fabricated AI.

Harvey Milk was a pedophile who had relationships with underage boys.  We should not be naming military vessels after that monster.

I ignored this vile accusation the first time you made it and will again.
