Trump's DERP State

Published

Confirmation Hearings for the Trump's incredibly bad choices for cabinet leadership positions.  Traitors, drunks, rapists, pet killers and television personalities were the first choice of the mentally ill old man.

My Senator, Dan Sullivan is all over his social media singing the praises of these folk so we should expect most of them to be confirmed.

Hegseths hearing should be starting about now.

It was fine when she was a Democrat running for a Democrat presidency..

Tulsi is another former Democrat to go to the "dark side". Bewitched by a demented mastermind that brain washed a nation into cult victims with his mental illness and a motive of becoming a fascist dictator.

(Just like last time but for real real this time...)

What?

We just had DEI training, to encourage us to treat all coworkers and patients fairly.  We are a private company.  It should be their chouce. For a party that whined all during covid about freedoms they sure are about restricting freedom.  But that's what a facist regime does I guess.

I agree in that they should let private companies for what they want.

As a side note, most of us don't need this kind of training as we're decent people and it's common sense to us.  It's always been a bit annoying to me to bevtequired go to these trainings (at least they're online now) when the folks who actually could use the training will probably never get the point of it.

True enough but it's documented that different races, the obese, etc. are treated differently and judged by the health caresystem,  so I'm not bothered by it.  My niece had a rash post surgery and was told it was anxiety.  But yes the endless education is annoying.

Tell me you are a white, cis male, without telling me you are a white cis male.

I have personally, as well as my daughter and sister have encountered substandard care because of our gender. I have seen non white people pre-judged about what care they receive and why they hesitated to get care or did not follow through with recommendations. I have seen so-called decent people call patients in distress derogatory names and delay care, because of substance use disorder or gender. It sounds like your training is substandard, but that doesn't its meaningless.

You've never seen that behavior from me despite what you want to believe about how those of my race and gender treat people.

I don't need the training.  My parents raised me to not make assumptions about a person based on their race, gender, sexual preference, etc.

Your cooments though, do remind me that there are folks out there who make assumptions about people based on those things.

You're correct she shouldn't make up assumptions about you like that.  We shouldn't look at a white person and presume they need DEI training.

Still with individual decent people like us it's out there.  (My niece was asleep when told her allergic reaction was anxiety).  Studies well document substandard care towards others so blanket DEI training for everyone seems the way to go.  Obviously even with DEI awareness there's something wrong.

Anti-Black medical gaslighting contributes to differential access to treatment and care. Improving equitable access to treatment and care must involve addressing structural and epistemic biases in healthcare and fostering a culture of listening to humanize the experience of illness.

We don't need to make assumptions when we can have online discussions with people and read what they say on these topics over time.

Hiring also has been an issue. With the new opening date roughly 90 days away, the Hampton VA hasn't found candidates for more than two-thirds of the 527 people needed to run the clinic, Rogers said.

Stacy Shorter of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 53, which covers the area, said three months is not enough time to hire that many employees in time for the opening.

"There's hundreds of different types of disciplines that run a hospital,” Shorter said. "You can't run a hospital with all doctors. Who's going to do the scheduling? Who's going to do the cleaning? Who's going to sterilize the equipment?”

The union is concerned that President Trump's executive order to freeze federal hiring will exacerbate problems at the VA, which has experienced staff shortages in many health facilities nationwide.

Oh well. Some veterans will be adversely affected but Musk is supposedly saving us from waste and fraud.

He and Trump has used the word fraud many times in talking about the government's need to drain the swamp and conduct massive layoffs.  It's one thing to want to cut government spending and I'm all for that.  It's another to make the accusation of fraud and don't provide any evidence.  I'm sure if you dug deep into some organizations you could find fraud of some sort.  When there's people and money there's waste and fraud.  To me the fraud accusations seem a bit of a false narrative to justify what they are doing.  They should be honest and provide details of fraud they are eliminating.

Some of these people have to be good honest hard working people just trying to make a difference and an living.

I suppose it's easier to dehumanize the agencies to make it easier for let them go.

As usual, there is more to the story:

"The Hampton VA went further, stating the entire Chesapeake clinic is exempt from the freeze.

Retired psychiatrist Harold Kudler, a former VA executive who ran the mental health program in the Hampton region, said a number of things created the personnel shortage, including the major legislation that expanded VA benefits in 2022.

"This hiring problem at the VA did not begin with the Trump Administration,” he said. "The PACT Act was the icing on the cake as a rapid expansion. Literally, more than a million, close to 2 million, people enrolled in VA based on that.”

The VA went on a hiring spree after the law passed, but began cutting back last year, faced with a budget deficit. Kudler said the price of care also ballooned under the 2018 Mission Act, which allowed more veterans to opt for care by non-VA providers in the community."

Does recent history suggest that either Musk or Trump are honest at baseline?

Trump definitely is not honest at baseline he lies and makes things up.

Musk really wan't on my radar much so I can't say much about he's conducted his affairs at baseline.  But he is, like some of Trump's other inner circle is promoting things like USAID saying "“a viper's nest of radical-left marxists who hate America,” "evil" and "a criminal organization.”  So he get's no respect from me about his current baseline.
