After criticizing voting by mail, Trump, first lady request mail-in ballots
QuoteThe president and his wife were sent ballots for next Tuesday's statewide primary election in Florida less than a week before the vote, according to the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections.
The office mailed the ballots to the Trumps, at their registered address at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, according to entries on its website.
I don't think that protecting the election from fraud and trying to save tax payers from bailing out the post office (which has been mismanaged for years) is an "assault" on the post office. The post office wants 25 billion dollars, does anyone really think that is all bc of covid. We all know that Russia and other countries are trying to influence the election, plus there have already been instances of voter fraud via mail. Anyone who requests a mail in ballot can get one. The post office needs to fix its own mess, not taxpayers, IMO. That is not unamerican!

The USPS is an essential government service, not a business. The fabricated nonsense about mismanagement could better be applied to the DOD and Pentagon. The Postal Service is owned and supported by We the People and so We the People should take care of it.
Suggesting further intentional devastation of this service, during a pandemic, when it is KNOWN that such action will hamper mail-in voting is, indeed, anti American. It is a symptom of a sick "democracy" where the ruling class offers propaganda to explain away vote suppression and election tampering by the despot in charge of the whole show.
No, there is no body of evidence of voter fraud which informs this partisan fear. There is abundant evidence of conservatives pushing that propaganda while attempting to limit and suppress voting in ways to maintain or protect political power.
Article 1, Section 8 of the US Constitution says that [The Congress shall have the power] to establish Post Offices and Post Roads.
General election in my county went from 4,000 absentee ballots/election to 80,000 in Apiil 2020. Removing 671 mail sorting machines ( can process up to 55,000 #10 envelopes per hour). as reported in today's news , ahead of an election where voting by mail is known to increase volume stinks to high heaven.

This is how despots work. They don't lose elections. Trump is broadcasting this loud and clear.

U.S. Postal Service warns numerous states that mail-in ballots may be delivered too late
Quote..The USPS said that there is not enough time for the ballots to be requested, completed and returned before the Nov. 3 presidential election, a startling development as many states have expanded mail-in voting because of the pandemic.
NBC News reached out to 28 states across the country to see whether they have received a USPS letter warning of issues relating to mail-in ballots. Fifteen states — Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia — shared the letters they were sent by the federal agency about the delay. Vermont and Wisconsin said they did not receive a warning from USPS....
..."Some states have reported Election Mail volumes that are 10 times higher than any previous year," Marti Johnson, an agency spokeswoman, said. "The Postal Service is well prepared and has ample capacity to deliver America’s election mail. However, the increases in volume and the effect of when volumes were mailed in the primary elections presented a need to ensure the Postal Service’s recommendations were reemphasized to elections officials."
Ya DON'T remove 671 mail sorting machines if you are anticipating 10x increase in election mail.!
My state, Pennsylvania is now fighting a legal battle in its state Supreme Court to allow it to count mailed ballots up to three days after Election Day.

Unless you are a despot. Then it makes perfect sense.

I couldn't agree more. But we definitely differ on who the ruling class spouting the propaganda is. How can you possibly think it is the President/republicans when the (used to be) main stream media, elites (including Hollywood), facebook/Twitter etc are constantly bashing Trump no matter what he says or does, removing posts from conservatives etc., while at the same time praising Biden, Harris and other Dems no matter what they say or do. I think you got it backwards.
The post office should have plenty of money bc they don't have the same workload they used to bc of people not sending so many letters and now using the internet etc. Yes, we the people do pay for the post office and therefore should expect/demand accountability re: the managemant/funds.

While I of course agree with the constitution I think we also have a responsibility, as we the people, to at the same time hold gov accountable for the way our money is spent. As we all know the gov always wastes money, and mismanagement is one of those ways IMO. My local post office is a hot mess.

Mainstream media fears, eh? Can you define that term, mainstream media? Is it comprised of any media which accurately reports about Trump's lies, corruption, incompetence, misinformation or nepotism? I think that you have it backwards. Pointing fingers away from the government that is busily looking for ways to limit your right to vote, to look at private business is exactly what despots prefer.
Regardless of what you feel or think about the USPS, it is currently being manipulated and misused to assist Trump in maintaining power. It's current fiscal issues are contrived by republican lawmakers.
