On Thursday morning, after months of attacks on the United States Postal Service and vote-by-mail, President Donald Trump admitted that the two efforts are connected as a part of one voter disenfranchisement effort. In a Fox Business Network interview, Trump said that the sticking point for him in the negotiations over a new coronavirus economic relief package is Post Office funding: “If we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it.”

Not sure what to think about this post office situation but either way Trump is not against absentee voting, anyone can still request to vote by mail and get a mail in ballot, he (and others) are against across the board voting by mail where the ballots are just sent out to anyone and everyone.
Ballots are mailed out only to those persons REGISTERED TO VOTE in states that have mail-in only voting.... like NJ is now doing.

Its not an attack on Trump per se..... its the problems he and his appointed Postmaster General is causingUS citizens during an epidemic that so many are objecting to with Trumps statements of mail fraud (therefore 'will be an illegal election") and the upheaval at USPS. Issues are REAL and occurring across the US. Postmaster General says they can handle mail volume but will run out of money by March 2021.

New Postal Service head is a top Trump donor and was CEO of a competitor.
Louis DeJoy, who has been a top donor to Trump and the Republican National Committee (has contributed over $1.2 million to the Trump Victory Fund), was in charge of fundraising for the 2020 Republican National Convention.
DeJoy was a businessman in North Carolina before taking on his new role. He spent more than 35 years growing and managing New Breed Logistics and, while serving as CEO and chairman of the company, provided logistics for the USPS. He retired from the company in December 2015. His wife, Aldona Wos is the nominee for ambassador to Canada.

The couple’s holdings include between $30.1 million and $75.3 million in assets in USPS competitors or contractors, according to a financial disclosure Wos filed with the Office of Government Ethics when she was nominated. Postal Service mail processing contractor XPO Logistics — which acquired DeJoy’s company New Breed Logistics in 2014 — represents the vast majority of those holdings. Their combined stake in competitors UPS and trucking company J.B. Hunt is roughly $265,000.
The post office should have plenty of money bc they don't have the same workload they used to bc of people not sending so many letters and now using the internet etc. Yes, we the people do pay for the post office and therefore should expect/demand accountability re: the managemant/funds.
Ummm, if you don't have people buying stamps...you don't have income coming in. The USPS is self funded from the $ it gets from stamps.

No other business is required to fund pensions this way.
I don't know what my household would have done without the USPS during the lock-down. Since my husband and I are in the vulnerable group, we were still able to send presents and cards to grandchildren having birthdays, receive medications by mail and purchase books to inspire and learn from.
