I recieved the "big envelope" on monday, the 30th. I was devastated, couldnt stop crying. I feel so depressed, don't know what to think. The performance letter made me even sadder. I was "above passing" in all categories except for two which were marked "nearly passing". I don't know what to think, i feel I can't study again for this....or how much more can I =(
I reapplied and sent the form about and hour after I opened it. The 45 day wait.. does it count from the day u took the first exam or after they recieve your re-app? i can't wait so long again.....

Like i said before some of the best nurses I have met failed the NCLEX exam the 1st time they took it. Don't be so hard on yourself. You have graduated haven't you ? SO you are more than able to pass this test. Don't let it end your career.
Did you take a Kaplan class or book? B/c they garantee passing scores. You should call them up.
It seems like the end of the world right now but a yr from now you will look back and wonder why you let it get to you.
Good luck

Take a break for a couple of weeks then go back to studying. I remember Googling how to take a multiple choice test and got some good tips.
You know what you know but keep in practice by doing the study guides practicing answering questions and think about why the right answer is the right answer. There a two correct answers but one has a higher priority than the other and you have to get in a habit of figuring out what and why. Also figuring out what is the key word in the question. What I did when I took NCLEX was to read the question, not look at the answers, close my eyes and think it out, then I opened my eyes to see if my choice was one of the answers. That seemed to relax me at the same time. It takes practice.
I passed the first go round with 240 questions but I failed my first CPNE clinical and was I ever desvastated. $1,800 to repeat and I wasn't willing. My parents paid, they forced me and boy am I glad they did. I was 46 y/o at the time! My hubby even cried (briefly) for me. That's how devastated I was. Relax, take a break and then dig right back in there. You got through nursing school you can pass the NCLEX.

chin up. it is not the end of the world. take a deep breath and relax... you have done your best. and as you have said only 3 is near passing standard. you have done well altho it wasnt enough, next time you will do better. stay positve. pray if you can. give your self a lil time to heal with pain & devastation. once you are ready and your mind is set, start to study again. practice nore. you will do much better next time...
the 45day wait starts by the time you took the last test.
Best of luck to yah. remember that you arent alone on this ordeal....

Hello I also graduated in Dec 06 and took the NCLEX in April for the first time and failed. I was so devasted but hey lets prepare for it again in 45 days and become official nurses. I am praying for your passing and success and you do the same. Just wanted to let you know you are not in this alone. Give yourself some time and go for it. I am going to use Suzannes plan, have you thought about that for this time. Well, let me know how your doing and I'll keep you posted as well. Im trying to retake in June.
Put God first and keep your head up!!!!!!!!

Dnt let this get you down...everything will work out for you...
Thanks. I guess I"ll wait for my ATT again and retake it sometime in June. I just feel depressed cuz failing pushed me back from moving forward with plans (i.e., moving, planning a wedding, etc. ). I took Kaplan the $500 course/w book and online Q trainers, I guess i'll have to concentrate harder on those. I already used my "guarantee" and signed up again. My bf also felt so sad, as soon as he heard the news, he ordered me all the saunders books he can find, and even pre-ordered the Saunders 2007 edition that is coming out May 15. I'm going to try out Suzanne's plan. I pray that I will pass the second time. I'm tired of being unemployed. I want to take care of patients already!
I even contemplated on not going to my college graduation in June (only had pinning ceremony since I graduated in December). I sort of feel embarassed not passing, when a majority of my class has already. And it doesn't help at the fact I was one of the top students in class, and now I fail? I don't know.

coachlvr, I am truly sorry about your results. I know exactly how you feel. You are on the "verge" of passing. My first test was in Feb. 07' and I failed with 265 questions and "near passing" on all results. I guess I kind of knew that I was near passing or else my computer would of shut off earlier..... I just took my test for the second time yesterday and another 265 questions. I graduated in Dec. as well, and majority of my class has taken and passed. I just want to get on with my original plans to work as RN! Did you have a lot of meds on your test that you NEVER heard of? I did. Did you get the Kaplan Meds in a Box to help study?
Well, dont give up and you will have RN after your name! You can't win the game, if you dont play!

Jme2007...I have a question for you. I am in the same boat as you. I graduated in dec 06 and took my NCLEX in feb 07. And got 265 questions with "near passing". Now I am planning to take the test in a week or so. My question for you is. Did the test seem harder this time to you. The reason I ask is because from April onwards..NCLEX is raising the passing rate and also the level of difficulty. I am freaking out..and was just wondering if the test seemed any different to you from the time you took it in feb 07 till now? I would really like your input. thank!
P.s.s OH by the way I hope and pray that your pass this time. Good luck
