  1. 1st deg, cj, 2nd bsn. Almost 12 years in the marines. As prior enlisted. Commissioned ANC as 66H/M5 July 09, just finished OBLC enroute to lovely ft Irwin CA right now, love'n it!
  2. When I was in the Marines I was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni Japan, there was a fairly good sized Naval medical facility there at the time. Iwakuni is a smaller base and has a small town feel to it, it was by far my best tour with the exception of NAS North Island. Japan can be really fun if you get out and see it!! I went to Japan for a 1 one year tour and stayed for 3 1/2 years, nuff said.
  3. If you show up to OBLC over the ht/wt and tape will they let you stay for the course and be re-evaluated at the end? I am about 22 lbs over my max wt, but only 2 or 3% over the body ft requirement. I can pass the apft easy and I report in 4 weeks (July 14th). I may be able to meet the body fat requirement by then, but need to know what to expect if I don't?
  4. I don't think it's a big deal, I'm going through it too. I had a secret clearence and spent 14 years in the Marines and guard.
  5. i tried, if you don't get it you could e-mail me via my profile. please do not post email addresses in the public message boards per our terms of service. other members can email you privately from your profile. thanks, the mod team.
  6. Actually, My wife's cousin was stationed there for 3 years in the hospital as a medic, they said they loved it there, I think they lived off base the whole time. You could also google the medical center and find a number that could put you in contact with a nurse, just call the operator and ask for any floor? I also think it is really close to an AF base which is good because of the AMC flights and extra recreational facilities. If you have Maj Hairstons e-mail could you PM it to me? LZ
  7. If you don't want to go to Germany, choose GA, it closer to Florida and SC beaches & attractions and Hotlanta.
  8. I think i must be crazy:jester:, but I like the heat, I spent time in 29 stumps and loved it, several places around the mideast and loved it, ?I just love to pt in the heat?
  9. Thanks! AK!!! hard charger!!! I'm trying to get Ft Irwin CA so I can stay close to SoCal for the 1st tour. Since I'm going in as a M5'r with 3yrs ER experience I hope they will give it to me, besides, I don't think anuone else want's it! LZ
  10. Thanks for the reply! I signed this month, I hope I can still make the Oct class. Just a few more questions. Are you going active duty? How long did it take you to get slotted for school and who contacts you with this information? Any word on yur 1st duty station?
  11. I have a couple of questions. What are the exact dates for the OBLC starting in Oct? Also, will/do they allocate school seats by need. Example, if the need more ER nurses would they bump folks out to make room to get that M5 through?
  12. I went to Naval Station San Diego last Friday to try and get an ID and the 1st thing they checked was to see if deers was updated! It was not updated and I was told I would have to come back when it was. Any thoughts, anyone? Mike
  13. Unless they bumpped you guy's out of July so I could attend:D, I guess I'll be going Oct or later too!
  14. Thanks for the reply, What documentation did you have when you went?
  15. Has anyone received there military ID before going to OBLC? I just received my direct commission in to the active ANC on the 8th of May, however I won't go to OBLC until at least Oct. I should be eligable for DEERS enrollment now right?
