Took my NCLEX-RN today!

Published

Hi, all!

I took my NCLEX-RN today, and the computer cut off at 75 questions. I came out of there feeling like my head was spinning!:uhoh3:

I got lots of SATAs(which I heard was "a good sign"), and all the questions seemed about on the same level of difficulty to me, so I'm not really sure what to think. I did the "Pearson Vue Trick" about an hour and a half after I took it, and according to that, I passed. Not sure how much faith I hold in that though, lol.

I find out with quick results hopefully Wednesday! I will update!

Class of 2010 graduates, post about your experiences with the NCLEX (RN or PN), and GOOD LUCK to all of you! And most importantly, keep your heads held high when you go in there and PASS!!:yeah:

SouthernBelles, hey honey I just wanted to check in so I took my test today. At 65 it asked if I wanted a break I declined. After 75 it didn't stop, after 85 It didnt stop either got to 145 & I was in panic mood. I had to take a 2 minute break. I said a pray & I got a hold of myself...Needless to say I got 265 questions. I don't even know what to say the degree of difficulty was high, I could literally see when I would get hard questions from one to the next. I was silent the whole ride home with my husband, who took me cause I was too nervous to drive myself this morning. It took me 5 & half hrs & he slept in the car the whole time. I got home around 3pm & I spoke to one friend who told me to do the PV Trick. I was terrrified so instead of doing the trick I cried my ass off for almost an hour. I am sure I failed, I didn't walk out the test feeling the way I did when I pass an exam. It's like I have a no clue, I am leaning more towards the failure.

I did log in to pearson vue with my user name & password the status says Delivery successful.

And when I tried to re register it gave me a pop up that says...Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam, please contact your member board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time.

What does this mean? Is this a good sign or does it mean that I failed but too early to re-register....I don't know whats worst waiting to test or waiting to find out if I passed.

When can I call & get the "unofficial" result from pearson vue

i did get that pop up as well, and it means "good" and you passed :)

i, as well is in doubt and i just checked again this morning (i took my exam yesterday with 265 items and i know what youre feeling) and still got that "contact you Member Board for further assistance" thing. a lot of people here say it works though.

from what state did you take the exam for anyway? :) if it participates in the quick results thing, then you can get it 48 hours after your exam date/time. :)

i took my test today, and when i returned home, i got the good pop up... but i'm still nervous. i took nclex-rn michigan :/ someone please reassure me XD cause i saw on the PVT thread that it didn't work for them..but i wasn't sure if they were just lying... :/

Everyone I have talked to said it worked for them. I think for the vast majority it does. It was correct for me, and I saw my name this morning on my state's BON site. Does MI have Quick Results? You can get those 48 hours after your scheduled test time on Pearson Vue's site.(for 8 dollars)

Congrats Ladies!

I did Kaplan also and am currently trying to review between residency orientation.

ONE QUESTION: What average scores where you getting on the Kaplan trainers and pre/post test? They told us 60-65 was good but I feel like it leaves so much to guess??

Thanks.

I had scores ranging from low 50s to mid-70s for most of them. I did have one 87, but it was ALL triage, which is pretty easy.

WHATS PVT and what did you use to pass the NCLEX

After you take the test, sign into NCLEX Testing with Pearson VUE and try to register for the NCLEX exam again. If you passed, you will get a pop-up saying to contact your Member Board and that another registration can't be made at this time. If you failed, it will take you to the credit card page to pay. Make sure you select the same test you took though(RN or PN).

And I used KAPLAN.

Sounds like you passed! That's the good pop-up with the PVT. My friend got 265 the other day, and he found out yesterday he passed, so do not feel like you failed because you got the whole test.

You can call Pearson Vue 48 hours after your scheduled test time. I was scheduled for 2, and even though I took my test at 1, it wouldn't give the results until after 2...so make sure to wait. You can also check online. It's a few dollars cheaper, and the results will stay listed. On the phone, you can only hear them once, and they'll charge each time you call.

Good luck! Sounds like great news :) Good job!

almostPeds- Thanks again! I am excited for tomorrow too...I can't wait to see if this trick really did work! Good luck to you when you take it! Yes, both of the KAPLAN books I was given were just content. One says "RN Course Book", and the other is just "The Basics". The only questions they provided were online. My friend did buy a separate KAPLAN 2010 review book at Barnes & Noble that has questions though. She said that it has helped her, because it gives more thorough rationales compared to the online quizzes.

Several of my friends didn't know the NCLEX sample tests were there either, and they didn't mention them to us during the KAPLAN review either. I just wanted to make sure I went over everything I could find!

Rell- That's great! I think we can take a breath if this genuinely has worked for everyone else. I hope so, anyway. We'll find out soon, and make sure you update your results! :)

Ive enrolled in kaplan too but I didn't enroll in international student. Just wondering Is the kaplan basic book a good reference? Compared to saunders comprehensive book which one is better? If the kaplan basic is much better I might enroll in international student just to get that book. thanks

I haven't tried Saunders, but I've heard good things about it. From what I've heard though, KAPLAN is most similar to the style of questions you will see on the NCLEX. I can attest to it that they are. Very similar style, very similar level of difficulty. All questions on KAPLAN are at the passing line on NCLEX or harder.

I've heard Saunders is good for review of actual content though.

i'm an international student as well, but i'm right here in CT now. i didn't get the international package because i did review nclex-rn with kaplan back where i studied nursing (not in the US) and when i got here, i also got the basic online package (that costs $499)

i'm not saying this to discourage you, but maybe this just depends on the person to which books/studying style he/she's comfortable with...i did use saunders with my 1st and second try -_- and both of them i failed. i used Kaplan with my third try.. and now i'm still waiting for my results (but i'm getting the good pop up with the PVT and hope that works..still anxious with waiting...) but a lot of people here say saunders is good for the content review :)

yeah..MI participates in the Quick Results ^_^ so do they post it even tomorrow? i mean it's a weekend. i did try the trick again today after the maintenance and still got the good pop up :clown:

Exactly my feeling about Saunders. It's only good for content. I took Kaplan and almost all the questions require higher level analysis. Saunders do not...even their "Analysis" questions.

I take the NCLEX on June 17. The Kaplan classmates that I've spoken to have been getting very difficult, 75 question tests, which suggests they are staying in the passing range.

Good luck everyone!! and congrats to those who have recently passed!!

can i ask something? is it 100% guarantee that if u see ur name posted in ca brn website u already passed??

dunno...if your name shows up on the BON site with a license # then obviously you are a licensed nurse

Ok thanks guys.. Hmm I might upgrade mine into international student to get that kaplan basic book.

I must say I feel a little better knowing that this PVT works for others in the pass. I feel a litttle relief, however, I will not be 100% satisfied until I get the official word. Just don't want to get my hopes up you know. I just want to be sure first before I jump for joy.

I took the test on thursday morning, so my 48hrs would be saturday morning. Will I still get my results on a weekend or will I have to wait until monday. In fact tuesday cause monday is Memorial Day?/

Once again Belle thanks for making my anxiety a little better. I tell ya this NCLEX-RN is a nerve wracking process...from preparing to passing to getting your results. Mama Mia!!!!
