Took my NCLEX-RN today!

Published

Hi, all!

I took my NCLEX-RN today, and the computer cut off at 75 questions. I came out of there feeling like my head was spinning!:uhoh3:

I got lots of SATAs(which I heard was "a good sign"), and all the questions seemed about on the same level of difficulty to me, so I'm not really sure what to think. I did the "Pearson Vue Trick" about an hour and a half after I took it, and according to that, I passed. Not sure how much faith I hold in that though, lol.

I find out with quick results hopefully Wednesday! I will update!

Class of 2010 graduates, post about your experiences with the NCLEX (RN or PN), and GOOD LUCK to all of you! And most importantly, keep your heads held high when you go in there and PASS!!:yeah:

I want to start off by saying congrats to the new RN's and LPN's. I am new to the site but have been reading the forms for a little over a year now. I finally need a little encouragement outside my family and friend circle.

I took my NCLEX-PN exam today at 8:00am. I walked in there with a little confidence and walked out with no confidence. The test was like no other test that I have ever taken before including the Ati Comprehensive Predictor (which stated that I had a 94% chance of passing the NCLEX-PN Exam). My test stopped at 135 and I had a lot of SATA questions, meds (that were not common), diease process questions. I went through my 15 months of school making A's and B's and not failing my classes. I thought I was well prepared to take my exam and was smart enough to have no doubts, but now I am having doubts. I studied the ATI study tools online and the NCLEX-pn 3rd edition disc. I also studied my notes from class, but I must admitt I didn't study much of the disease processes and it might be something that I should have studied.

I want to know if everyone feels this way after taking the NCLEX? Should I be worried about stopping at 135, if my test questions kind of moved around a lot from different catorgeries is that I good sign. When should I do the pearson vue trick and how is it done accurately. I am sorry that I wrote a lot just nervous.:confused::confused:

Thank you for reading my post!!!!! :):):)

I'm doing Kaplan as well. How much would you say you utilized the content review (book and online videos)?

I did nearly all of the computer portion. I did all of the NCLEX sample tests(they are kind of hidden, so if you can't find them, go to Qbank and "sample tests". They're 3 of them there.), all Qbank questions, and all 7 of the Question Trainers. However, I didn't use the videos.

As for the book, what I did was go to "analyze" for each of my tests that I took online. I found the areas where I either got a weaker score or just FELT like I was weaker and maybe did a bunch of guesswork, and read that in the book. I didn't read the books cover-to-cover. No time for that, and they advised us not to, unless we just felt a really deep, burning need to do so lol.

Rell, I definitely felt that way coming out of the NCLEX. I honestly thought that I must have failed it, and when my friend told me to try the "PVT", my heart was beating SO fast!

I still don't know for sure yet, but it did help to lessen my anxiety some lol. For the time being, anyway.

Don't worry about that though. I have only had one friend who felt like she passed when she came out(and she did). Most people I know who've passed would swear on their lives that they failed it right afterward.

Good luck to you!

ETA-I tried the "trick" about an hour and a half after I took it. I'm not sure if it shows up as fast in all states though. I have seen people talk about discrepancies between states here.

To do it, go back to the pearsonvue site and log-in, then try to schedule another NCLEX. If you passed, it will let you fill out your program and which test you want to take, as well as select your state's BON. After you've done that, click the next button.

By these UNOFFICIAL results, if you passed, then you will get a pop-up that says, "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be created at this time." If you failed, you will be taken to the page where you put your payment information in.

If you get something saying that your results are on hold, that doesn't mean either way. Also, before you try this, make sure it says that your rsults are delivered under status, not "ready for delivery". If it says that, it's too soon to try it.

Thanks! I have a good feeling for you, as well.

No, I didn't really use the decision tree on my NCLEX. On some of the prioritization questions, I knew to eliminate seeing the patient with pain first because of Maslow's and remembering that pain is psychosocial though. I would still practice it when you review, just because you know never know who will get what kind of questions.

I did all of the Qbank questions, Question Trainers, and NCLEX sample tests that KAPLAN provided and could use the DT on a fair amount of those...so it's possible you could get some like that on boards!

I cant wait till wednesday that when you get your quick results right! Thanks for the advice. My rn course book recently came in the mail it seems to be all content. I have only watched a couple of the videos and one of the content videos, I guess I want to make sure I cover everything so that I pass this time. Then at the same time I dont want to put to much pressure on myself because I know that I know this stuff. Keep us update on everything, and I will do the same:-) Thanks for the advice and CONGRATS AGAIN!

Thanks southern.bellex3 :) I haven't accessed my Qbank yet but I'll be sure to do the sample tests (I didn't even know those were there). You are wonderful for sharing your experience regarding preparing and taking the NCLEX. After I pass I plan to do the same thing so I can help others.

Thank you Southernbelle.ex3 I needed the encouragement. I will keep you all posted.

I just did the "pearson vue trick" and it stopped me after I put my school code in. It wouldn't let me go any farther stating, "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your member board for further assistance. You can not register at this time." So I hope it works for as it has done for others!!!!!!

almostPeds- Thanks again! I am excited for tomorrow too...I can't wait to see if this trick really did work! Good luck to you when you take it! Yes, both of the KAPLAN books I was given were just content. One says "RN Course Book", and the other is just "The Basics". The only questions they provided were online. My friend did buy a separate KAPLAN 2010 review book at Barnes & Noble that has questions though. She said that it has helped her, because it gives more thorough rationales compared to the online quizzes.

Several of my friends didn't know the NCLEX sample tests were there either, and they didn't mention them to us during the KAPLAN review either. I just wanted to make sure I went over everything I could find!

Rell- That's great! I think we can take a breath if this genuinely has worked for everyone else. I hope so, anyway. We'll find out soon, and make sure you update your results! :)

where could be sample nclex tests?

If you have paid for the KAPLAN program and have your username and password, sign into your account.

Then, you go to your Qbank, and then "NCLEX-RN Prep Sample Tests". It is in the left-hand column.

There should be 3 of them. They just say NCLEX Sample Test 1, 2, and 3.

Found out today I passed! PVT worked for me!
