I took NCLEX on Monday for the first time, and I found out today that I failed. I felt soooo disappointed after more than 5 months of studying, locking up myself to my room, sacrificing fun & parties with friends, everything turned into trash. I feel terrible 'cause I remember 5 years ago in nursing school, I was just an average student and I used to flunk too. When I graduated, I took the board exam (in Philippines) and failed. Oh yeah, I have a lot of failures already BUT when I came to US, I promise myself, commit to it, and did my best to pass NCLEX. But, unfortunately, It didn't work.
Is sucks when after all your mistakes and failures, you tried to change your life and did your best and yet, it seems not enough. I feel like giving up for nursing is really not for me. I graduated nursing 2010, I felt like I forgot everything I learned. I'm 25 and still, NO JOB EXPERIENCE. Plus, my years of failing is kind of telling me I need to shift to another career. I felt like a loser. If you're in my shoes, will pursue nursing or search for new career?
Is there anyone out there in the same boat as I am?

Wow. I don't know what to say. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. Try to take a refresher course. Kaplan is great also from what I hear. I hope it gets better for you...

I haven't taken the NCLEX myself yet (I am still a nursing student) however, I have heard of many people failing the NCLEX their first 2 or 3 times... I don't think its time to give up just yet!

I just want to say first, I am sorry. But quit all your negative talk and find a solution!!!!
Have you taken a test prep course? I took the Kaplan one and it was great. It tells you HOW to take the test, and how it is structured. Perhaps that is where you need the help, not so much the nursing knowledge. I STRONGLY suggest you look into this.
Good luck, it ain't over!

you have my sympathy. I think you should attempt the test again before you give up. I know several nurses who took the test more than once. If possible, get a study partner, tutor or see if you can use the computer lab at your school (hope you have one!). Contacting an old instructor might help with other resources too. Good luck!!
Thanks guys. I did Kaplan and Saunders cover to cover + cds. plenty of hours a day spent on answering questions & rationales and reading contents, plus other helpful materials online. Idk what I missed, maybe it's just ME...*sighs*

Do Not Give Up! You're by far not the only good student that has failed NCLEX. Pick yourself back up, and register to re-test. Maybe relax and have a small glass of wine before the test? Maybe it's test anxiety, it's obviously not from a lack of studying. Have you checked out how to answer multiple test questions for nurses?
no, not just the book, you need the teacher.

After all you have been through to get your nursing degree, why would you consider giving up now? Think positive and study the weak areas that you did not do well on. Mistakes and failures should only make you want to keep trying until you win. Its' just like boxing, just because you are knocked down, it does not mean that you stay down. You get back up with greater determination to win.
