Do you realize how precious you all are to each other? We can exchange ideas, thoughts and suggestions.
But what gets to me the most is when some one of you steps out of the role and says something really SUPPORTIVE of someone else, just because.....No ulterior motive, no aggrandizing of themselves, just PURE SUPPORT!!
Here I am.....probably a good 30+ years older than all of you and yet you make me feel just as welcome as if I were a kid. I hope you feel the same. Keep looking up.
Thank you.

Michelle,
When I saw your avatar, I got a lump in my throat...you are one awesome person! Thank you so much for the support, that is a totally selfless move.
This bb is awesome, I've been addicted from the second I found it. I've even been guilty of some of the bashing, but by watching the tactful way others have handled differences, I've learned too cool my fiestyness and be a bit more thoughtful in my responses. Besides the awesome wealth of nursing info I've gained here, I've regained the "if you can't say something nice...." philosophy. So, I'd like to say thanks for all you people who have set an example for me..even this old dog has been taught a trick or two;)
PRN,
You've got to be the sweetest person I've ever met. You always offer words of encouragement and sympathy in the most appropriate times. I hope all goes well for you and your hubby..you and the rest of this wonderful world are in my prayers.
Michelle: I want to say, too, how much I was touched by our National Anthem being played at the changing of the guard at the palace. I love this board. It's great seeing nurses from all over our planet who come here to seek advice and support. Peace and Love to everyone, if I haven't said that before.
Hi,
I found this board by surfing through different nursingpages.
Since there aren't a lot of them in German, and those who are repeat themselves again and again, this BB is great!
I enjoy the newletter and the discussions here very much!
Sometimes it's hard for me to react immediately, because it takes time to formulate things in English (sorry for all the mistakes by the way!) And sometimes I just can't find the right words and may sound strange to you, soryy about that too.
I've learned a lot, laughed even more and especially the last week cried even more!
Thanks everyone of you, God bless and have a quiet weekend!
Originally posted by michelle999As a complete outsider in another country, this message board has given me hope and a heap of good advice. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart, there is nothing like this in the uk and I think that if there were then people would be more understanding and closer.I had a patient die today, 81 years old and had been on our ward for months, he wanted to die and was asking for his mother. I turned him and then went back to him 15 minutes later and he was dead ( he was not for rescusitation, what do you call this??). I am full of guilt, I have been nursing for 12 years and I hate the feeling that someone has died alone.
Hi Michelle: Your patient was a "no code" or a DNR (do not rescuscitate)
To everyone: I agree with you all, this is the best place to vent/start an interesting conversation/share your opinion. Thank you all for being nice to a nursing student! :)
Nurses should be supportive of each other. I find that weather you work across the globe the problems are much the same. It takes a very special person for nursing. I, too stumbled across this site and i love it.Somewhere to go, someone to talk with. Only other nurses can truly relate to other nurses and their plight. Plase visit my website, dedicated to caregivers (below). I have this site's link on the first page. Let me know what you thinkOriginally posted by P_RNDo you realize how precious you all are to each other? We can exchange ideas, thoughts and suggestions.

Hello,
I would just like to say that this site is one of the best sites that I have been to for nursing students. I ran across this site and now I come here daily to see what is new and to read new posts. I am going to have to cut down on some of the time I visit here everyday but I truly do enjoy it. I am a pre-nursing student and I have recommended this site to all of my friend's. Also this site has been very informative and supportive on the dillema I was facing about whether or not I should go LPN route first or the RN route. I thank God each and everyday for the life's experiences of everyone on this BB. From what state they think is the best, to pay salaries, and to just to reasons why everyone became a nurse no matter what their level of education, and I can truly respect that. Thank You Allnurses.com and May God Bless and Keep Everyone!!!!!!!!
:) Shunda:)
 :) :)
May God Bless Us All And May He Teach Us To Take One Day At A Time, Please Remember The Best Is Yet To Come, This Too Shall Pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMEN

Michelle999, your patient was not alone. I have been in nursing for over 30 years and only a few times have I been right there when someone passed away.
I think that he really did see his mother, and then he went to be with her. Sometimes if they are ready to go, they wait until no one is near, because they don't want to be pulled back.
And don't ever think you are an outsider. There are plenty of Brits here. I think we have one or two Italians, a few Aussies and others. Invite some of your fellow nurses to check in here. I'm intrigued by the differences and similarities in our two countries.
I was just overcome Thursday when the Guard played our National Anthem......and look you have put a US flag as your avatar. Thank you .
