To Do List.: Before Fall Semester

Published

So what does everyone need/want to accomplish before fall semester starts?

Mine:

  • Finish deep cleaning the house (I might not have much time when school starts.. so I do spring cleaning at the end of the summer).
  • Read my graphing calculator for dummies book (once the calculator comes in the mail! )
  • get my books on the 15th.
  • read a little in every book. (I only have a week between when first classes start and the 15th but I am going to try to read the first chapter in every book)
  • sharpen all my pencils :D
  • and if I have enough money.. go buy some new clothes.

My fall semester starts a week from today :( I have list of things I need to do and I don't think I'll be able to get everything done. My friend's Dad died Saturday night so now I have a funeral to go to and that will cut into my time. God, that sounded insensitive. It wasn't meant to be.

--Deep clean the house.

--Set off foggers. Darn animals brought in fleas.

--Buy my son some back to school clothes and shoes.

--Declutter my house. I've been attempting for 4 years now.

--Go on a caving trip. I won't have time again until October when we go to MVOR.

Mate...you don't use foggers in the house do you?

As for the decluttering (entirely not a word I know), I feel your pain. But, I am having a really great time doing it right now. I am even steam cleaning my carpets. God I feel virtuous.

i start in 2 weeks. I have orientation a week from today

so far I still need to:

buy backpack

organize home office; buy new desk, chair, office stuff

buy laptop

deep clean house

oil change/wash car

Things I'd like to do prior to moving to Nashville next Monday (17th):

* Finish cleaning the house

* Get a haircut

* Pull together a real wardrobe of clothes for lecture classes

* Have the dogs groomed

* Spend time with friends and family

Things I'm likely to actually get accomplished in that time:

* Spend time with friends and family

At this point, frankly, I'm out of money and time needed to get everything done that I'd like to...but it's all going to be great!

  • Finish the assignments they gave us at orientation in May - I still have 5+ chapters in the Pharmacology book, 2 in the skills book, need to brush up on my med math and terminology (I already read like 14 chapters in the Fundamentals book).
  • Commandeer the tall, skinny bookshelf from my son's room for my books and school supplies. He told me I could have it if I paid him $2 a week for his allowance instead of $5. (yes, you read that right. He's almost 6, for what it's worth.)
  • I should probably organize my closet.
  • Rest. Because this might be the last of that for a while.
  • Bleed the brakes on the 69 Malibu because that might be my ride to school this semester since my Beetle Turbo S has a rack-and-pinion steering problem that will cost 1000 to fix (and I don't have that, cause I shot every extra bit of money I had this summer on supplies and books and everything else I needed for school).

There's probably more, but these are what I need to get done ASAP.

LMAO....your son and mine would get along great!!

I have another thing to do...

  • get the TV fixed. The power controls are on the fritz, and it only turns on when it feels like it.

I'm not entirely sure I can survive life with nursing school and an almost-six-year-old without TV. That might be just too much.

Clean my room & organize my desk

Get an oil change for my car

Clear out my brain from all that stuff i did in summer school

Go grocery shopping for healthy snacks i can eat in between classes

Brush up on my simple arithmetic and fractions for pharmacology

Find $2,000.00 to cover book expenses for this semester

Get a massage

REST & spend time with my baby sister before she goes off to college!!!

I can mark the caving trip off my to-do list! Did that after work today with the husband and kids.

Word of advice--if you ever decide to go caving, don't take small children into a big mud pit of a cave, LOL. I figured the little ones (4.5 & 2.5) would be fine with it because we've taken them in other caves and they loved it. Apparently they're not into the mud.

-Have one last irresponsible night out with friends.

-Buy school supplies.

-Sleep....and more sleep.

-Buy new inserts for my shoes for clinicals.

-Buy a new coffee maker.

-Buy some new school clothes.

-Watch skills disk to brush up on basics (foley insertion, IV etc)

-Mentally prepare myself for 5 wks of mental health clinicals...

Luckily I have a pretty good group this semester,so study groups will be awesome. Also, I got the clinical assignment I wanted, so I'm very happy about that.

I started school this June-an I thought I would have no time to party-but I made time. There's a balance, I think my drunken nights contributed to my A-'s. So you can still party, after your work is done-I'm in an accelerated program btw-and went out every other weekend.

I still party during the semester, but I make sure I'm home by 2 or 3 haha. During a good night out with friends I won't get home until the next day, then I have to sleep all day...it's hard to do during school.

But thanks, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who still parties in school.
