  1. Finished my Micro class on tuesday...made a 93 overall! :)
  2. I graduated nursing school when I was 23 and also applied and was accepted to work my first job the same year. Ive almost been a nurse for about a year and honestly i must say that i truly feel that i have a bit of an advantage over an older nurse. It is true that in this line of work your body goes through changes rapidly and being on the work "floor" will take your body through the ringer. I have only been at it for about a year but i find myself coming home after my 2 twelve hour shifts (I work weekends only) and i soak my feet in Epsom salt to relieve the tension. I can only imagine what older nurses go through. I feel like my brain is a sponge right now and im eager to learn any new things that are thrown my way. many "older" nurses are set in there ways and it is quite difficult to get them to try new things. My supervisor commented the other day on how happy she was to have a new nurse on her staff because she said that I havent become as "set in my ways" as some of the other nurses....DO you all agree?
  3. I just started Micro yesterday. This is a 10 week class from 10am-3pm twice a week and so far I believe this will be a great class. My instructor is very laid back and easy going which is already a plus and really just wants our active participation in the class, that's not too much to ask right?Yesterday we discussed the history of micro and didn't even have to stay the entire time she allowed us to leave early! Ive already started studying though and based on some info about the class that ive received from other people, it looks like flashcards are the best way to memorize things, ill do my best to update whats going on in class from time to time. Good Luck Everyone!
  4. I live in the Greenville area, which is about 2 1/2 hours North of Wilmington. Im a new graduate LPN and so far, since I graduated in July, the pickings have been rather slim. Nursing Homes, Home Health, and Doctors offices do most of the hiring. I live in a city where we have one of the best hospitals around and unfortunately one of two things is the case, 1. They do NOT hire LPN's anymore and prefer to staff with RN's or 2. they DO hire LPN's and its all about who you know. Wilmington is a beautiful area,I will admit, but as far as working in hospitals there...im not certain about that. Good Luck on all your future endeavors and your potential move to NC!
  5. Trick does work 100% passed here in NC! results today!
  6. Just took my NCLEX-PN today. Was scheduled to take it @ 12 but got there a little early & was allowed to start @ about 11:30...went out to lunch with a friend, just got home to check & I got the GOOD pop up @ 4:40 PM!
  7. Congratulations! I graduated last night as well! I plan to work at a doctors office full-time, and go back to school for my RN, our school's program is separated. 1 program for LPN and 1 for RN, so I have the option to take a transition course, and then transition back into the RN program which is approximately 3 semesters. Not sure about the ATT # just paid for my NCLEX as well, again Congrats!
  8. :)::: CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS::::) We've all been there before!
  9. During the first week of nursing school, do nursing instructors say hmmm...I hope you didnt think you werent going to leave here today without a headache, so unscrew your head, and allow me to pour information in by the pages full into your head...and oh by the way...you have a test on Monday.... good luck ?
  10. I was done with my first week of nursing school on Thursday. ( We dont have classes on Friday, which feels so darn good, I got to spend ALLL day studying) plus my two weekend days. Boy did we ever get alot of information, this past week. I feel so overwhelmed. I spent time reading chapters and I was actually retaining all of it! We have our first test on Monday which will be on Pharmacology principles, and some Pharm. math. Im not too excited about all of the formulas....i wish someone would recommend good way to remember all of those, but nevertheless its only going to be 20 out of the 50 questions we have. Also does anyone have any study tips that really work for them, My book suggested the PURR method, but im not really to hot about it??? Clinicals dont start until October, im kind of worried about my Blood Pressure check off, i have a hard time hearing the systolic number......??? I hope everyone has a GREAT week this week.
  11. I know exactly how you feel mstayci...I wasnt able to buy all of my books at one time, nor was I able to purchase my nursing kit. which a whole handful of people were verbally reprimanded along with myself about not being "prepared for class" this morning.
  12. Im super excited on the inside....Im so ready to go.. I have my bag packed but im feeling a little unprepared because i don't have all of my books...I couldn't afford to buy them all at one time...Hopefully someone wont mind sharing...hope we don't have any assignments due right away!!! I already have my lunchbox packed too :) Good luck to everyone...cant wait until we create our post about graduation day!!!
  13. I start on the 17th of August. I have been ecstatic up until this point. For some strange reason I feel like this is like the "calm before the storm" I am so worried about what is going to happen this first semester.
  14. Clean my room & organize my desk Get an oil change for my car Clear out my brain from all that stuff i did in summer school Go grocery shopping for healthy snacks i can eat in between classes Brush up on my simple arithmetic and fractions for pharmacology Find $2,000.00 to cover book expenses for this semester Get a massage REST & spend time with my baby sister before she goes off to college!!!
