  1. I work at a Kindred in orange county. When i first got hired, the HR dept were very surprised my background investigation came back so fast. I think its "normal" for them to not receive them all in a timely manner (so it seems). Good luck. I would email the HR lady back to check in and ask if there is any progress on it.
  2. I interviewed last friday as well. I haven't heard anything. it seems very competitive. very!
  3. Any word yet? i just saw they had a FB update yesterday.
  4. lol 20 hours of flu education and wear a mask? I think the best education is WASH YOUR HANDS! i saved you 20 hours of education :chuckle
  5. wait time out... they use aborted fetal tissue in vaccinations? sweet baby jesus...
  6. apparel pro in Tempe offers a 20% discount if you are a student and show your nursing student ID badge this goes for most items, except for scrubs with the school logo on them
  7. i find that I retain better information if i actually write out my notes after the lectures. Some students retype their notes, however, the act of writing out important info helps me understand/memorize it. Reading ahead of time or parts i didn't understand helps as well. I review the questions at the end of each chapter/section. I usually find the correct answers with the matching DVD the textbook comes in. I then put sticky notes next to the question with the correct answer. It helps me ~comprehend~ what i just read.
  8. i plan on working while in the program. i start in a few days. however, i'm only working 16 hours per week. I have to work at least 16 hours a week for my job to pay for my tuition and books (they prepay and no job commitment after, so thats a big bonus :)) if, for some reason, i can't manage working or feeling overwhelmed, well then i'll have to quit and live off my husband. we do not have any kids.
  9. i start in 2 weeks. I have orientation a week from today so far I still need to: buy backpack organize home office; buy new desk, chair, office stuff buy laptop deep clean house oil change/wash car
  10. the hospital i work at prepays for your tuition and books. No work commitment afterwards. :) to qualify for tuition reimbursment/prepayment you only have to work 2 days a week.
  11. i actually have class/lecture for a few weeks before the clinical rotation starts thanks
  12. So i don't expect a detailed answer, but a general answer is ok I start block 1 this august. The weekend before I start clinicals my friend is getting married. I would basically be going out of town for the whole weekend. I haven't bought my ticket or anything (although i did buy the bridesmaid dress) because I have a fear that school will be too consuming that weekend or whatever. I have let her know already that I might not be able to make it if any instructors advise there might be alot of work. What are your thoughts on this?

i'm going to SCC I went on textbooks.com and my total for all the books (except for a bunch of Davis books that are being put together as a special "package" thru the SCC bookstore) was about 375... so i'm wondering just how much this package is going to cost me... i work at scottsdale healthcare so they prepay or reimburse all your tuition and books so I guess it can be worse.

Hi Anyone starting Block 1 this august? Have you bought your textbooks yet? I haven't I haven't been in school for about 2 years. What are some good reliable sites to buy books? I'm thinking amazon.com is probably a safe bet.
