  1. So I have decided not to work while I go through the BSN program. I would like to hear from others who have or are doing the same thing. How are you getting through financially? Loans, parents, or other? I am a non-trad student that will most likely be taking out a few loans here and there to get me through, but I feel this is necessary to keep up with my course work. How about you?
  2. Hello! I was speaking with my nursing advisor and she told me that only a handful of students work while attending the bsn program, and that she would highly reccommend that i do not work while going because it is very intense. Is it possible to live off of loans for the next two years? Do they pay for your personal expenses as well as educational? I still need to be able to pay insurance, buy groceries, etc. Thank you for your help!
  3. I would like to become an np, but have about 3 years before i can even apply for this. i can make it throught the program with two years to spare before this 2015 date, but is this how it works? can i do this or will i have to go through the dnp program? i really dont want to have to do this and may rethink my decision if i have to
  4. is it true that most nurses are absolutely horrible to work with? i have been researching nursing quite a bit, and found a website called i hate nursing.com (seriously!!) and it seems that the majority of the complaints was that the other nurses were so mean and gossipy! have you had experiences like this or is this just a certain group of people? how do you look past this so you can actually enjoy your job??
  5. This question is for those of you who are well into school or have already graduated. I was looking at the catalog for my university, and it seemed like the bulk of the classes were about management, phsycological issues, things like that. is this the majority of what the job entails, emotional support for patients? (sorry, im still kinda unfamiliar with nursing!) I am really interested in biology and how and why the human body works. is this the wrong career choice for me?
  6. to put it simply, i am a little terrified! is this a sign that nursing isnt for me, or has anyone else felt this way?
  7. Hello! I am twenty years old and still trying to figure out what to do with life. I know I want to be in the medical field, and have just recently stumbled on the idea of becoming a nurse. I am absolutley terrified to make a move though, because of all the horror stories i have heard! I have heard that the people you have to work with are just aweful, and you get rediculously burnt out after a while. is this the norm? what can i expect if i face my fears and do it? i am also very concerned about having enough time to be with my family. what kind of schedules are normal in this field?
