We've been here before. I posted this sort of thing once before and several people from here queried EC and ebay about it, and the items were pulled. (Thank you!!!)
This is an even more brazen individual than that last one. Multiple items and somehow has the auctions going until March or April (didn't know you could do that!). When you look at these item descriptions, if you have any sense of academic integrity, you are going to gag. I think it must be worse for us EC alums and students.
So I am asking again for some strength in numbers.
Here is the URL for complaining to ebay: http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_inline/index.html
Here is the phone number for complaining to Excelsior College: 1-888-647-2388. School of nursing is ext 1314. Test administration is ext 16. I think those two cover it.
Here are the item numbers for the ebay items.
5948549942
4511070698
4511075930
4511078375
5942053561
5942057144
5942059283
5942066379
5942100840
You can just look up one, then click on "view seller's other items," and you will get these (assuming we haven't already succeeded!) and any others that are subsequently listed.
Please complain. This kind of crime proliferates when we do nothing because we think it doesn't affect us personally. But cheating demeans the rep of our school, and therefore our credential, and us as nurses who graduated from Excelsior College through our own hard work.
Go get 'em!
And thanks.

This is just awful. Whatever happened to integrity? When I taught in a career college teaching LVN's and CNA's we had to change our tests every class because of this cheating! And I learned that the foreign students who supposedly passed some entrance test to get in the US really could NOT understand english as they claimed. They passed by buying the test answers.

I mean no sarcasm by this, but what is the difference between this and 'study guides', or the NCLEX review books you buy in the bookstores? Are these the actual test questions and answers from the school, that they give each semester?

I will definately be contacting e-bay and EC. As a graduate I do not appreciate this person using their degree to profit in a unethical manner. I don't understand why someone would even want to buy these things. Going to EC for me was about learning not about just passing. Let's all get together and get this crap thrown off of e-bay.

I am on that. will call and write both. I wonder if they could undegree that person under their academic policy. Fight the Good Fight......C
Test items and their answers are, ummmm, well, cheating.
I think it's a pretty big difference.

Way to go Chris and all you others.

i don't mean any sarcasm either but study guides are to point you in the right direction, and you use them to go where you need to go to learn what you need to learn. test items and their answers are, ummmm, well, cheating. i think it's a pretty big difference.

despite the fact that you don't mean to be sarcastic, it seemed you were (i think. forgive me if you weren't). what i should have said was i don't mean to sound ignorant, but...
i just wanted to know if these were the actual test questions and answers. nclex review books are actual test questions too. however, the chances are slim that you will actually see the same questions when taking the exam. if they truly are, than i am in complete agreement with nailing these people.

I really doubt anyone can do anything about it. Even if this person is selling real test questions and answers, he is smart enough in his phrasing not to get caught. He calls it a study guide, and says it is pulled together from many resources. He does say that they come with questions and answers but not once did this person say that they come with real questions and answers. Almost any and every study guide that you can get, comes with questions and answers, it doesn't mean that they are from the test. And truth be told even if they are, this person can always claim that they didn't know where the questions came from. People can complain to eBay and EC, but neither of them can really do anything about it. eBay has no where to stand because it is just essentially a study guide. And EC has no where to stand, because even if they get their hands on it and sees that it has real test questions, the person can claim they came from someone else, and has taken the tests so long ago that he had no idea, these were real test questions. Of course with these two things combined, eBay may have enough to shut doen the auction, but who knows how many other ways the seller is selling these guides. No disrespect and believe me I do condone cheating at all, but to all EC graduates and current and future students (like me!), this is no way down plays your degree or credentials. That is simply because there are so many traditional schools, where this type of cheating is going on also, and the cheating is more than well known. That is not to say that it is okay, it is just to say that, if a person's diploma where evident cheating is going on, is upheld, than EC should and is not any different.
Correction I see that is another item this person said that they were real test questions and answers. With that I believe eBay will close this person down, but as I said before you really can't separate this person from other study guide makers, with real questions and answers, such as NCLEX, Pax RN, Pax LPN, and countless others. What the person can claim is that the questions did come from an actual test, but that is not to say that they will be on the test others will take; the questions can be used to show the type of questions that will be seem. Yes it is cheating, but no one can do much about it, unless this so called study guide is just made up of questions and answers. Then it is plain to see. But it would be hard if they have actual study advice and such.
It is sad that we just can't graduate and go to work.....I gladly donated my information, books, flash cards and video tapes rather than sell them. I donated this CPNE study material so that one LVN helping another LVN could pass it on and on and on. Greed is the case here...EC students want to pass their test and move on....so the opportunity is there to take advantage of them. I am glad I bought Chancellors guides new and used them pretty much exclusively. Yes, I paid dearly for them and could have done it without them, But no regrets. Nurses need to be ethical in all our aspects of life, we are in the spotlight so much and have a license to help or hurt.....it is our choice. C
