Tidewater Community College Fall 2018

Hello all fellow applicants for TCC's Fall Semester 2018!

I have been scouring the most recent TCC post, and the latest applicants have been offered their seats in the program, woohoo!!! As a result, I have decided to post a new thread for the next round of applications.

Just curious, will anyone be a resident of Virginia for only a short time before applying? I will be moving in December and I was wondering if my measly two month-long residency will hold up as well against someone who has been a resident of Virginia for over a year.

Happy application cycle! :) Hope to see some of you someday soon.

Hi all, I just went to the information session today. The good news is that it sounds like there's still 64 seats, just all starting in August. Yay!

Thank you so much for that! I took the session 2 years ago. Any other valuable info you could think of to share?

Oh that's kind of a relief. Yeah any more updates or useful info?

Well, the main thing is that BIO 150 is a corequisite rather than a prerequisite now. Outside of that, they said that individual classes/grades are graded. Curricular GPA is just a qualifier, and needs to be over 2.5 to be eligible for application.

Thank you! When you say..

Outside of that, they said that individual classes/grades are graded.

Are you saying that they are looking at the other classes that we've taken, other than just the pre-nursing classes?

You get more points towards your application if you've completed the coreqs. I think that's what they meant but I might be wrong.

Yes, that's it. Other classes don't count, curricular GPA just is required to be 2.5, and each prerequisite and corequisite has a point value assigned to it. So if your GPA is high from less important classes like ENG 111, it isn't worth as much as an A from Micro or A&P.

Bachelor's degree waive sdv101?

I'm not sure about that. I think it's in the admission packet though.

I think it does. When I went to the info session last summer they said if you have a bachelors degree it waives sdv because you already take a class similar to it when you have a bachelors.

Ok I had heard that it does. I'll call up there Monday to find out.

I'm like 99% sure it waives the course
