Tidewater Community College Fall 2018

Hello all fellow applicants for TCC's Fall Semester 2018!

I have been scouring the most recent TCC post, and the latest applicants have been offered their seats in the program, woohoo!!! As a result, I have decided to post a new thread for the next round of applications.

Just curious, will anyone be a resident of Virginia for only a short time before applying? I will be moving in December and I was wondering if my measly two month-long residency will hold up as well against someone who has been a resident of Virginia for over a year.

Happy application cycle! :) Hope to see some of you someday soon.

Thanks for the tips, that was helpful. Is there anything at all that we should read or work on before school starts?

Unless you have your books already, I would just carve out a schedule for studying. Also, review/study your conversions and Rounding to the nearest tenth, you will have a test on that the first week and only get two chances to pass. Also on every test there are 5 mixed in

Hi,

I was chosen as an alternate. I was wondering if anyone who got accepted to TCC's nursing program is choosing to go somewhere else instead. I am not sure if I really have a chance getting in this time, since I am an alternate. I am currently working full-time, so if I were to get in last minute I would need to give my work notice. I would definitely probably need to reduce my hours. If I don't get in, I was just offered a new full-time position at a Sentara closer to my house that I really want. I'm conflicted if I should take it because this new job wouldn't work out if I was accepted last minute.

Did you end up getting a spot in the program? If so or if not when did you find out?

Hi,

I’m going to be brutally honest. If I had to do it again, I’d choose Sentera. I wasn’t an alternate for TCC so I don’t know the stress you’re dealing with there, but I have 4 friends that have done the Sentera program and when comparing schedules, the Sentera is a lot more flexible (with there being online courses throughout the journey) and in the same amount of time as the TCC program, you will have a Bachelors instead of an ADN. And the TCC program is brand new and now concept-based. LOTS of kinks are still being worked out.
