Hello all fellow applicants for TCC's Fall Semester 2018!
I have been scouring the most recent TCC post, and the latest applicants have been offered their seats in the program, woohoo!!! As a result, I have decided to post a new thread for the next round of applications.
Just curious, will anyone be a resident of Virginia for only a short time before applying? I will be moving in December and I was wondering if my measly two month-long residency will hold up as well against someone who has been a resident of Virginia for over a year.
Happy application cycle! :) Hope to see some of you someday soon.
I applied to the nursing program for fall 2018. I do not have all my corequisites, but I have all my prerequisites. I am missing microbiology and I'm currently enrolled in A&PII. Instead of taking SDV 101, I took SDV 100. Will this count? I also took PHI 200 instead of 226. They have changed the nursing packet in the past couple years. In the previous packet, it said PHI 200 was okay...which is why I took it. I scored a 90.89% on my HESI.
I am currently working full-time at Sentara Norfolk General as a care partner and have experience drawing blood, inserting Foley's, assisting patients, etc...but I was told they don't look at work-related experience.
Do I have a shot at getting in?

Did you take chemistry? As far as I understand you are required to have either chemistry or microbiology to be eligible to apply. I may be wrong though! :)
It looks as if they changed a lot. I took the Eng 112 over the summer hoping it would give me extra points and now it doesnt look as if its a requirement anymore. Looking at the Nursing packet it looks as if you will need these classes to apply BIO 141, ENG 111, PSY 230 and SDV 101. It says that these are the prerequisites. So you will need to take the SDV 101 instead of 100. They could still possibly let you in because your Hesi scores are good. Doesnt hurt to try. Chemistry or Micro used to be a requirement but it is no longer listed on the application as a prereq.
