Got results today from my first routine ( i'm newly 36 ) mammogram----ABNORMAL FINDINGS:crying2:
I have to go in tomorrow morning for a "focal point" mammogram and ultrasound
I know that most things are nothing to worry about, but I can't help it. And I just heard about John Edward's wife. So sad for them. Let's all keep them in our thoughts.
I've had a history of fibrous cysts but this is not in the area of those cysts. It is actually under the areola part. I've read about a few ductal conditions and diseases. And I had lot of trouble with plugged ducts and mastitis while breastfeeding- so maybe it's scar tissue or something. I'll know soon- but probably not before the weekend.
Hoping for the Best.

I know how terrifying this must be for you, Okie.......I had a scare this past summer, and I had to go back in and have the mammogram repeated plus ultrasound. What made it worse was having just been to the funeral of a co-worker (who was about my age) who had just died of cancer. I remember sitting in the exam room between the mammogram and the ultrasound, looking at my films up on the light board showing a suspicious-looking area deep inside my right breast, and thinking "Oh, man, I could be in some trouble here".
Well, it turned out that it was nothing more than a swollen lymph node in the ductal area, which they're going to watch over the next year (mammograms Q 6 months) but didn't even need to be biopsied. What an incredible relief..........I felt like I literally had dodged a bullet. I hope and pray things turn out as well, if not better, for you. :kiss

I can identify with that awful sinking feeling. I found a lump in my breast and totally freaked out. Turned out to be just a fibroadenoma and was removed without any further problems, but sure was a scare.
Hope everything turns out well for you. Lots of good thoughts, prayers, positive energy as well as crossing my fingers and toes for you :kiss

Okie2,
keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed. I know this is a scary time... Try to take care of yourself - eat, sleep, breathe, and do something nice for yourself.

thoughts are with you. i had a swelling under my arm a few months back and i was then 12 weeks pregnant. the swelling got worse. i had a rapid appt at the breast clinic and had to have an ultra sound as couldnt have a mammogram for obvious reasons. it came up clear but i was to keep an eye on it.?hormones they said , but not sure what it is. i am now nearly 28 weeks pregnant and still have the swelling, and hasnt got any worse. i think it is due to my hormones but it is a strange thing to have when pregnant.. had it re checked and said dont worry about it. U cant help worrying. anyway good luck hope all is ok
Thank you all so much!
Just got back and the US showed all normal tissue!! Thank GOD.
They say it might just be scar or fibrous tissue-but it's normal and I can come back in a year!
BOY- nothing like a little worry to help gain perspective on what's important in life.
Thanks so much for your prayers and encouragement.
What a great group of people we have here.
Make it a great day!:)
