Those Starting in August

Nursing Students General Students

Oh My God. It's August 1st. I see a lot of posts about students starting in August. It's even closer than we thought. I'm nervous, wired, excited, etc. etc. all at the same time. I'm just finishing up a refresher math course at a local college now as I've been out of school for some time. And this will help me with the Drug Dosage & Calcs classes starting in August. It's sooner than we think!

Cheryl, Congrats on getting your acceptance letter. Now the real fun begins! Good luck!

And I thought I was the only one having trouble sleeping (i ALWAYS have problems, but as the semester nears, I'm not gettin ANY sleep - and I've tried everything from tylenol pm's to sominex and even the sleepy time tea to no avail) I hope it gets better cuz I know it'll be impossible to stay focused w/o any sleep. I just got through spring cleaning (in the summer) I've got all kinds of stuff to get rid of (having a garage sale and the remainder is going straight to goodwill). My goal for this past week was to get organized before hand that way, I'm not trying to do it once school starts. Just hope my house stays this clean for a little while :)

I am having a hard time sleeping as well. I keep thinking so much to do, so little time & money to get it all done. I hope once I get it all taken care of I will have time to take a breather and enjoy the rest of the summer :)

Oh man, I am right there with you guys, just another deer caught in the headlights!:p Had my physical last week and I have orientation next week and the closer it gets, the more freaked out I am getting! I give total respect to you guys doing this with a husband and children. I just have a boyfriend and cats and I am worried about neglecting them, much less actual human children!;) Good luck to us all, it will be hard, but I know we can do it!

I will be attending 2 different colleges. My nursing classes which starts on 8/25 will be at one & then I will have to attend my A&PII class on 8/18 :(

I quit my job on the 15th & was looking forward to having a week off b4 I start my nursing classes. But alas, I needed this other class in order to graduate. Maybe, I will be able to sleep one day:p

I start on the 25th also, getting books this week, & over the next few weeks before school starts, my school is offering workshops.. on study skills, math, & medical termiology. On Mon, I have to go to my former employer to get the dates of my 1st 2 Hep. shots...oy vey, so much to do, so little time!!!

Oh, I am so happy that I checked these boards today! Isn't it nice to know we are all feeling the same thing??

I have 3 kids and a husband, too...so I know what you mean when you say he doesn't understand.

I am nervous like a lot of you guys...kind of don't know what to expect, even though I know it will be different. I realize that this is the first huge accomplishment, and it was one of my goals, and I have finally reached it...but I am still nervous, apprehensive, excited...I don't know.

I am having trouble falling asleep at night, but unlike some of you I don't stay awake. I kind of wish I had that problem, because then maybe there would be more hours in the day to accomplish everything! But, I need LOTS of sleep...can't live without it.

I am hoping to get the house organized and cleaned, too, next week. I am finishing up a critical thinking summer class this coming week...so, after that I have one week to clean, the next week is prep for school (because that is when FA is supposed to come). I know, though, that MY house won't stay clean for long...no one else likes to help keep it clean!!

We are not having an orientation, really...but, we are having a welcome brunch at one of the hospitals so that we can buy our (overpriced) uniforms and supplies!

Best of luck to you all...I don't know about you, but I don't think I'll get much computer time this fall!!

oh man, i am right there with you guys, just another deer caught in the headlights!:p

hmmmm, ya got room for 1 more deer?16_3_160.gif...????:chuckle

Hi fellow future students!

I start at the end of August too. I'm excited and can't wait for it to be over so I can start getting REAL pay checks $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

For those of you having sleep problems, aerobic exercise does wonders. Running, dancing, cycling 2 or 3 times a week helps me to sleep like a newborn baby, even in times like these................

Wow I am a deer in the headlights member too! I start on Aug 16th and it is getting close! No one understands why I am studying now when school hasn't started. I just want to review the basics and get a better handle on dosage calculations. However, I wish people would stop asking me things they should see their Dr. about! I mean sheesh I am not even in school yet and I have people asking me "does this look like a hernia?" "What is Pancreatitis and why does my daughter have it?" i am going to have to change my cell number soon. But i am glad I am not the only one. I am scared and nervous as well but I wouldn't change anything for the world!

The anticipation is killing me. So many people say that I am giving up my life for the next two years while I'm in the program. I have also heard some(although few) say that it is not as hard as it is made out to be. I'm enjoying summer break but I am also getting excited about starting.

I'm starting the week of August 23rd. I've been trying to go back for my RN for 5 years now and things just kept getting in the way. I am RELIEVED that I will finally be in. Super excited as well. :)
