THANK YOU, to the staff, mods, and admins....
I'd also like to say thank you to everyone... up front, behind the scenes, and all the members, too. I have learned so much, gotten SO many laughs, and gained great respect for the profession we are all in. Please take care of yourselves too. It just doesn't seem real at all, no matter how many comments you read.

I'm the worst CNA they ever had
When I was working as a new CNA @ a hosp, the person I was being hired to replace (she was retiring) really couldn't have cared less abt me shadowing or learning. What did I do, found a completely awesome PN who helped me learn the ropes more than I'd have expected. I did that for a few years up until I grad from PN school, then I was working mainly in LTC. Now I'm going back to get my RN online.

Missing my partner :*(
I picked up Sherrys' remains the other day, as well as a remembrance necklace. It's a silver heart with a black paw print on it. We have 3 fur kitties, but are also both dog lovers, so that's what it stands for. In a way, I feel 'calm' because she's back here home with me and the kitties, but at the same time, it makes it harder for me to be in denial, you know? Missing me sweetheart more and more everyday. And for those that mentioned it, I have already been in therapy for years before this happened, so I am getting help professionally. Thanks so much for everyones thoughts and prayers for us both. xoxoxo

Missing my partner :*(
I know I haven't been on here a lot.. I guess I just need to vent. My partner of 13 years, Sherry passed away recently. Basically, she collapsed at home. She was alert and lucid when I went to get the phone to call 911, but when I got back to her, she was unresponsive. I did what I had to do, started cpr, called for help... but I guess her brain went without oxygen for too long. This happened on a Thurs night. Sun night, I made the hardest decision of my life... to let her go. :*( I know her spirit and soul were already gone, I was holding out for good results on an EEG. Some of her organs had begun to fail, and she just went downhill way too fast. I miss her SO much, and I know time will play a huge part in my healing.....right now, breathing and blinking take too much of an effort....I love and miss you, Sherry, forever and ever, amen. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

Losing respect for nursing students
I became an LPN in 2004, and am now going to go back for my RN. When I was in school, I was a CNA in the hospital we did clinicals in, many days I'd have clinicals, & then work, sometimes on the same floor. There were always some students who sat, didn't do their work, etc. I always tried to do my work, help the nurses, kept busy. It made the time go by, made the teachers happy, & I felt good, knowing I was doing something to help someone, even if it was changing a bed. I'm sure some students thought I was 'sucking up' when I was on the floor I worked on (I worked 2nd shift) because I knew the 1st shift nurses, but I kept busy on all the floors when I was there. I still run into some of the nurses I did clinicals with & they remember me....it's a good feeling, esp on the days when you feel like you've done nothing well, & want to bang your head on the wall.

Nursing to the Deaf?
I'd love to learn sign language. I've looked locally (I live in central Pa), but can't find anywhere to take classes. I've even looked online, though I don't know if that'd be as an effective way of learning.

"LPNs should be done away with altogether"
I'm an LPN & at the local hospital around here, the LPN's are the ones doing all the meds (that they can give as PN's, that is), I've been a nurse since 2004, & still get the question.... why don't you want to be an RN? No thanks, it's just not for me.

Deaf Nursing?
I'm glad I found this thread! I've been tossing around the idea of learning ASL. I'm looking into schools in the area that may have it, but I've actually heard of people learning it onling, including nurses, & getting credits for it. I was just wondering if it might be better to learn it face to face in a classroom setting, other than online? Thanks! :heartbeat

anyone going to school in altoona?
I grad in '04 from the GACTC.. good luck to you, it's a hard year, but well worth it!! I was working for a local LTC facility, but am now working through a local agency.. better pay, no stress, but I had to find my own insurance, b/c the ins the company offers is the kind where u pay up front & they reimburse you a certain amt for whatever it is. I think I know someone who is also in your class.. I used to work with her. PM me anytime. :smiletea2:

CEU's in Pa
I recently got a card in the mail talking about when LPN's (in Pa, anyway) renew their licenses, they have to have so many credits. I know that RN's are doing it. I've asked around, & checked the state website, but can't find anything. Anyone know anything about it? Thanks!

Looking for a new job!!
Hey everyone!, I took the WCEI wound care course at the end of April, & I am happy to say I PASSED!!!!! :balloons: Problem is, now I need a new job. I'm burnt out @ the LTC I'm at, & they don't exactly acknowledge my new education. Paid for it on my own, because I'm facinated with wounds & the healing of them! I live in central Pa, Altoona, specifically. I'm love to be in a hospital setting, although it's not necessary. Any suggestions/ help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, you guys are great!!! Jennifer LPN WCC:smilecoffeecup: :yelclap:
