Thanks, everyone. I know I just need to butt up and do it. It would be nice if there were a universal set of prerequisites (at least statewide) but, hey, you can't have everything. And I have no doubt that nursing is what I'd like to do. I sometimes feel bad that I'm so happy every time I walk into the hospital I volunteer at.I think another factor of my frustration is the fact that I was really excited to go away for college and ended up not being able to. Especially when I see all my friends making plans.But I'm still hopeful. As for science, I think if I go into it wanting to enjoy it, I will. Especially since it's not only about the grade like in high school, but actually about learning the information. Thanks again for all your advice and encouragement!

I've been so discouraged recently about Nursing School. I've wanted to be a nurse since I was in middle school and my desire to be a nurse has only increased while being in a CNA course. But every time I think about nursing school I just want to give up. I'm starting at a community college in the Fall and I can't see how I'll ever be able to make it. For one, I really just don't like science. As much as I try, I can never get into it. And, for the program at my CC, it would take about 2 years to just get through the prerequisites and, if I actually get into it, another 2 years for the program. Four years for what is suppose to be a two-year degree? And then I plan on getting a BSN but 6 years just seems like a ridiculous amount of time. And transferring into a nursing program is nearly impossible with every school having different requirements and priority given to students who did the prerequisites at the actual school. It all just seems like too much and I really would rather drop out of school and go live in the forest at this point. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm really interested in Travel Nursing in the future - especially international. I was wondering if there is anyone who has traveled internationally before. What was your experience?

For those of you who got in, what were your grades? I'm considering Towson for nursing but I'd like to know how difficult their program is to get into. I'll definitely work hard but straight A's isn't exactly easy Also, is there anyone already in the program who would like to share their thoughts on it? Thanks!

Are there any hospitals that don't make you work 12 hour shifts? I will be getting my CNA license this summer but I am still under 18 so I am legally not allowed to work 12 hour shifts. Also, I currently volunteer at a hospital (I have been doing escort and messenger recently but I start In a nursing unit tomorrow.:)) Do you think there is a chance that the hospital would hire (or at least I would have a better chance of being hired) me because I had volunteered there? Has anyone ever had that happened where they got a job after volunteering at a hospital?

I would love to find a way to mix Nursing with American Sign Language (ASL). Does anyone know of special hospitals or centers that cater towards deaf people? Or an area that has a high deaf population?

Hi All, I would like to know how much those who are in the program like it. I'm in High School and looking around for a Nursing program I would like to go into in the future. I have taken some classes at Saddleback (Sign Language 1, 2, 3, and going into 4. Which are all in the Health Science building coincidentally) So I sort of have a feel for the school and a good amount of credits to my name. But I want to go a 4 year college and get away from home. Do you think it would be worth it for me to stay home for Saddleback or should I go chance it somewhere else?

I'm doing both! I'm in a pretty good situation. I'm currently a junior in high school and in a couple weeks I will start volunteering (I have to take 2 TB tests and I can't do that too soon since I had surgery yesterday). Then next year I can get the CNA through my school. Along with that, I am taking classes at a nearby community college. So I feel great about my future!
