This week, I have learned..... (8/1)

Nurses General Nursing

Published

This week, I have learned:

(Vacation edition!)

1. Absolutely nothing specifically related to nursing

2. It's hard to not judge unhealthy habits of people on vacation

3. I'm reaching a point in my nursing practice where I can frequently size up a person for their health issues

4. It sucks being handicapped with an unseen condition at an amusement park

5. I am NOT afraid to write a scathing hot review of a terrible hotel

6. Simply being within viewing distance of my kids' joy is the best part of a vacation, ever

7. If you have the option of "quick queue" at an amusement park when it's 100 degrees outside, just do it

8. If you touch me when it's this hot outside, I will want to punch you in the face (reread that with the properly deserved expletives)

9. I have a new favorite motto

That's all from me! What have you learned this week?

One overnight at a new, interesting, fun location can seem like a real vacation.

3 years is enough in my current job.

I'm not as frugal as I would like to be.

Today was Subway Customer Appreciation day and I got a free sub.

cracking up!!!

I am a day late but things I learned this week are

1 being on the other side of the bed ( being a patient) sucks! Not only is it expensive but can be very painful ( kidney stones suck!!)

2 that shots hurt!! I would rather go back to giving them I do not want to receiving them anymore.

3 that going from one GI extreme ( constipation) to another one (diarrhea ) in a day is uncomfortable and annoying!

4 if you are a doctor in the er and you choose not to wear underwear you might want to wear pants that do not have a hole in the crotch of pants. If you do happen to go commando with a hole in your pants you might want to shave your peri area first! I saw way to much of that doctor!!

You just now learned number 1, 2, and 3?

This week I have learned that if you feed a stray pregnant cat then she will have babies under your porch and your husband will be mad at you.

The administration for cobra is a little shady and I can't wait to get a job with benefits.

The office staff, including my new supervisor are all about covering their butt and will hang me out to dry.

I don't like or respect my supervisor.

I do respect my administrator.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

I have learned:

1) I attract families with the social issues, whether it be the child itself or their parents...I had a social day for two days in a row...:nailbiting:

2) Comedic parents can set a stressed nurse off (not me, but my coworker-It was all good in the end)

3) Confronting docs who "sit" on kids that need to go to their bed-especially a septic work up-while the waiting room fills up is very refreshing-and above all, empowering; they at least know if I want a kid to go, they know NOW to get them out of my face. :D

And...

My cat after having him for 5 years still loves baskets and closets...watching him try to undulate into a small basket in which he tips over is pure comedy...and a perfect stress reliever.

Noooooo!!!!! :'( Maybe I should have another child. Life goes by way too fast.

Or enters the military and is deployed overseas. or gets married. Or moves to a different city or across the country.

Don't have more kids just because the older one is growing up. Sorry to butt into your personal life.

Yes, they grow up so fast. We just don't know where the time went. But it has gone. We all grow older and enter new phases of our lives. Lots of good times to recall, some regrets, but we just keep on going. What else can we do?

Enjoy your little guy, OC.

I hope you reported him. He sounds like a possible pervert. At the least, he sounds like a nut.

lol. You're not, I put it out there. I see where you're coming from. I don't want more kids because he's growing up but because I would want another baby & want him to have a sibling. But I also miss the little, itty bitty baby stage. Time does go by way too fast. :(

He was actually a she! I could not agree more. She is definitely an odd person. I should have said something it looked very unprofessional.

Awwww sounds like she's been working too many shifts in a row and had a terribly embarrassing moment when she realized she had a hole down there. Imagine the horror she must have felt!!

Hope you're feeling better, Taylor!
