QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.
Beerman said:Oh, really? You "just heard"? From where? What radical leftist source led you to believe it was a "probable lynching"? Do you even know if the victim was black?
Yes, local law enforcement, under a black police chief, is saying no foul play suspected. And as it being a suicide, his/her name won't be released. So, we won't know any details about the victim.
TDS is still rampant.
You mention radical left sources like that was a bad thing. I've skimmed those sources for years, starting with the civil rights movement from the sixties. We have our share of loony conspiracy theories. But those same sources have also been amazingly predictive over the years. You obviously looked up the specifics of the incidents I wrote about. It's also obvious you didn't investigate anything else about lynching in the US. Try it. Trigger warning: tough reading for us white folks.
I stopped playing the dueling citation game years ago. I don't need anyone's approval to have an opinion. Besides, the endless attempts to litigate which source is "more objective" is a boring waste of time. Back when public schools were supported instead of dismantled, I learned that "objectivity", like infinity or the speed of light, can only be approached, never reached. So the squabbling is meaningless.
The fact is, we choose our leadership and I tend to credit left-wing sources when it comes to racism and history. I also tend to trust my own lived experience and thought process.
When it comes to white supremacists and Christian dominionists, I am totally biased and hyper vigilant. It's literally life and death for me and my family.
If you want to call that TDS, have a party. In my world, TDS is a survival skill.
Meanwhile, search: white supremacist DOJ indictment. I see no link with trump, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out there is one.

All very interesting.
Of course, you're entitled to your opinion.
The reported facts of the case are that a 18 year old male was found dead hanging from a tree near a school, and the local police say no foul play is suspected.
So, what lived experiences and thought processes led you to believe that this was a lynching being covered up by the local police?

You don't have freedom of speech? Where do you live that you don't have free speech and can't state the facts of your experience?
Here is an example of an assault by a white supremacist.

And the other member feels this type of verbal accosting is " literally life or death for him and his family"?

And Joe Arpaio is 85 years old now. IDK which other *** would even step forward to take the job after the concentration camps we created for our own Japanese citizens and Joe's outdoor prisons. Not sure that is still a popular job.

Doubtful we'll ever have "millions in camps."
The only reason we may need detention camps is due to the Biden administration's welcome mat illegal immigration policy.
I said here years ago that the Democrats want to welcome in as many immigrants as possibe to overwhelm our immigration system and throw it into chaos.
Goal accomplished.
To fix it, for those who know its broken, we need to start with securing the border and deter more from coming illegally. If "detention camps" is part of that answer, so be it.
As much as Democrats and candidate Harris pretend to, they don't care to fix it. And it may very well be what costs them the election.
To borrow the words from Obama's friend and pastor, the chickens are coming home to roost.

The only reason the USA would need detention camps is because Trump or some other right wing authoritarian might want to round up millions of immigrants and deport them. All that right wing authoritarian has to do is "other" the immigrants and convince some of the population that they are poisoning the blood of the country. If they sufficiently demonize the others, lots of Americans will go along with all manner of cruelty.
Supporting a pathway to citizenship for people who arrived here as children is a popular position.
We all watched the GOP demonstrate that the border is too juicy as a compaign issue to actually pass legislation which would improve border security. We all also understand that Trump wants to project that political theater onto liberals, projection is a liar's favorite tool.
The chickens will be home to roost when the American people remind Trump that 1) he was fired once before after completely failing the leadership test of a pandemic, and 2) and people who attempt to overthrow our elected government are traitors who shouldn't be anywhere near that power again.
That's true even if you try to attach other troubled people, like Smollett, to Harris. Or, maybe we should examine the character of the people in the inner circles of the two candidates, as if character actually matters to Trump voters.

This crazy guy pre wrote a letter apologizing for failing in his attempt to assassinate Trump. Did he intend to fail in this attempt or was there another effort that he's referencing? Or maybe he's just crazy.
