This was interesting in the news today...

The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

trump and Zelensky are similar in interesting ways. Both are political amateurs who got elected president of their countries soon after "going pro". Both present as straight, white cis men. Both were entertainers before becoming president.

It made me wonder how trump's wartime performance would compare if the US was in a position similar to Ukraine's?

Red states are making it easier to access ivermectin. Here's why that matters.

Isn't it interesting that some of those same political leaders don't trust women with OTC mifepristone.

Perhaps this gift link will work:

Hubby worked for a farm store co-op during the pandemic. They could hardly keep the horse Ivermectin on the shelf. One day he overheard customers advising each other what to mix it in to disguise the taste.

It worked - thanks 🙏

Evolution at work. I've said it before, nature is neither fair nor kind. This self-indulgent nonsense is gonna kill a lot of people who didn't have the privilege of making a choice.

I am frequently reminded of something said back when gun violence in Boston was escalating rapidly, by a woman nominated to head up our state public health department. She was an ED doc. She described caring for a young man (16-ish) brought to the ED for a gunshot wound. She said she was dumbfounded when the kid was actually seriously surprised that it hurt to get shot. After all, the guys on tv just got up and kept doing whatever the were doing before.

I am sorry for the walled off citation.  Thank you @nursej22 for the gift link!

We might guess his wartime performance from his pandemic performance.

When Thomas Fugate graduated from college last year with a degree in politics, he celebrated in a social media post about the exciting opportunities that lay beyond campus life in Texas. "Onward and upward!” he wrote, with an emoji of a rocket shooting into space.

His career blastoff came quickly. A year after graduation, the 22-year-old with no apparent national security expertise is now a Department of Homeland Security official overseeing the government's main hub for terrorism prevention, including an $18 million grant program intended to help communities combat violent extremism.

Typically, people familiar with CP3 say, a candidate that green wouldn't have gotten an interview for a junior position, much less be hired to run operations. According to LinkedIn, the bulk of Fugate's leadership experience comes from having served as secretary general of a Model United Nations club.

"Maybe he's a wunderkind. Maybe he's Doogie Howser and has everything at 21 years old, or whatever he is, to lead the office. But that's not likely the case,” said one counterterrorism researcher who has worked with CP3 officials for years. "It sounds like putting the intern in charge.”

Apparently everyone in this administration simply goes along with Trump's incredibly bad ideas born out of ignorance and incredibly bad judgment.  What could possibly go wrong?  I have a ski jacket older than this guy.

An interesting discussion that includes a thought on why Americans are excusing depravity because of wealth.  This is not the typical shout fest that you would expect from Piers Morgan's show.

With all the bad news in the world it's nice to see the support our brave soldiers are getting for June Veterans month.

Trump said in the Oval Office today that Musk has TDS. Apparently, Musk thinks that Trump didn't show proper gratitude.

It's all dangerous and damaging to the status and health of this country.

I support the military, current and vets, but I don't think this has anything to do with politics.

I wish the transgender Air Force Academy graduates were being supported by the administration.

That's been my point.

It seems you have taken it to heart and have changed your tune over the last month.  You had said you hadnt ever seen such desperation, to which I replied that seemed to be a bit dramatic.

One has nothing to do with the other. Both things van be true at the same time.  The market isn't the economy and organizations and go fund me sites are fundraising for diapers.  I don't understand why people who can't afford diapers are having kids but this seems to be a new low in terms of poverty when people can't afford diapers.
