QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Hahaha the hate group lost control of that name and they can't sell any merchandise with the name on it without permission of the church. This is part of the resistance to the MAGA movement.
In other news, the Representative from Georgia, Empty G, was offended by a journalist's French accent in a press briefing the other day. She thought maybe foreign journalists should be banned. LOL
This is stranger than fiction and way more dangerous than any book. Even one about a transgender teacher grooming and mutilating kids in a satanic after school program. If one existed, it would be less dangerous to our society than people like Empty G.
toomuchbaloney said:It's becoming increasingly obvious to the population at large that fascists don't really care about laws or precedent or tradition or any other thing which might limit their behavior.
When was it a "law" to not enforce laws against those who break the law?
Should illegal immigrants driving drunk be spared deportation?
By precedent do you mean allowing criminals including impaired drivers be spared deportation because ICE cannot arrest them at the DMV or other select locations? Like during the Biden presidency? Which laws can be be broken and which laws cannot be? Does it depend on political affiliation? Because that's fascist.
toomuchbaloney said:Sure. That seems a bit delusional to me but it probably makes sense to you. I mean, you believe that if House Republicans say that Biden's economy was bad then that MUST mean that Biden's economy was bad. In spite of the evidence to the contrary, you believe the republican politicians. And you say these things while Trump's people are breaking laws and precedent left and right.
None of Trump's supporters think that there's any evidence that this administration is fascist. There's no point in trying to change your mind or any other mind about that. That does not mean that Trump isn't a fascist or that his presidency isn't a fascist exercise. They are. You're going to be seeing that type of language used regularly. Buckle up.
Like we haven't heard that language for 8 yrs now. The total fascist dictator that never was........
The forced pregnancy centre's and detention camps that never was. The ban on abortion and all the other hyperbolic fear propaganda. We don't need to buckle up, this rhetoric has lost its speed.

So? If the language troubles you, you can block me and avoid it. You are going to hear lots and lots more of it from more and more people as time goes on.
It's a good look for you to defend a lying fascist that's building out 30k beds in an off shore concentration camp for immigrants. Talking about your support for the cruel and mentally ill fascist will never lose its "speed".
Hahaha

I have to admit, I had to look up "legacy media" which is as I understand it, old school media that existed prior to the internet. What they are saying about the reporter with the accent is she's a correspondent for several outlets and is based in Washington.
The Press Secretary, and I mentioned before how good she is at promoting Trump's agenda, did indeed give a good answer.

Insulting people with accents is just acceptable in right wing politics today. She identifies as a Christian although you'd never guess if she didn't tell you.
"Navratilova, a lifelong Democrat who has championed fairness in women's sports, ridiculed the other side of the aisle for failing to do what the president did.
"I hate that the Democrats totally failed women and girls on this very clear issue of women's sports being for females only," she wrote in a post on X."
Lack of support for trans athletes is nothing new. I think like Republicans who lost the battle of gay marriage and accepted it and moved on Democrats will do likewise, especially without public support and especially since it affected, what 10 people?
Also like Republicans not coming out in support of gay marriage and just dropping it, I don't think many Democrats are going to come swinging on this issue either, sorry Navratilova.
A poll from 2023 reflected this.

QuoteA House Republican introduced a bill Tuesday that would enable President Trump's efforts to purchase Greenland — and rename it to "Red, White and Blueland."
Why it matters: Republican lawmakers loyal to Trump have scrambled to put together a series of bills that would codify the president's desire for a new era of American expansionism.
Driving the news: Rep. Earl "Buddy" Carter's (R-Ga.) two-page "Red, White, and Blueland Act of 2025'' would "authorize the President to enter into negotiations to acquire Greenland and to rename Greenland as 'Red, White, and Blueland.'"
The bill would also require the federal government to refer to it as such on official maps and documents.
The leaders of Greenland and Denmark — of which Greenland is a territory — have pushed back on the idea of trying to purchase Greenland, as have some Democrats.
I'm certain that someone can make sense of this idiocy. Right?

LOL. It certainly beats having to do the difficult work of the people.

These are all good things. I'm not going to ridicule dems for dropping the issue. This is what people wanted.
