Things you would love to tell your management and get away with

Published

I love the thread things you would love to tell your pt and get away with.

But to be truthful for me I love the pts and rarely want to be horrid to them. However I do have lots of things I would like to say to the management and get away with my job. So here are a few things

1/ No you take the extra pt and flex up why should I

2/ Stop sitting on that fat bum and come out here and do some real work for a change.

3/ I wouldnt trust you to help me with my pts because you have no skills left so would be useless

4/ Do you even remember what it was like to work as a floor nurse

5/ Why would I ask you how to do anything you are not upto date and never know the answers

6/ In these days of financial crisis why are you getting an extra shift per week?

Dear Manager,

I have spent considerable time trying to figure out if some of the mind-blowingly out-of-touch comments and directives that disseminate from your office actually come from your brain, that of the VP above you, or from senior management above the VP.

However, I've decided I no longer care.

I'd write the same note, with a twist:

Dear Manager,

I have spent considerable time trying to figue out if some of the mind-blowingly out-of-tough comments and directives that disseminate from your office actually come from your brain...........or your ass. They have a distinct scent that gives me a clue though.

1. When I tell you something that concerns me, please don't say "I will follow up" and then not do it.

2. Also, don't hide things like issues on the unit from the Nurse manager.

3. When five preceptors complain about the safety of a new orientee, meaning she is NOT safe in her practice, please don't let her off orientation.

4. Please don't defend the employee who has her earphones on and is playing on her laptop. We work in an ICU, we need to hear the alarms

5. Please don't expect agency nurses or ICU nurses with just a year's experience in the ICU to babysit the new nurses just off orientation. I'm not a babysitter.

I can't believe it! Now don't you tell me that it's only a "couple" of nurses that are the problem on your unit!

What do you mean "the nurse who has a earphones on and playing on her lap top"??

What kind of circus do you work at?

This is another fab thread:yeah:how I wish we could just blurt it all out. Heres a couple of things that get me

1: If Cloning people was not against the law, I would be happy for you to clone me so that we can then do the work of the two people, that you keep assigning to me alone:-(

2: Do not roster me on for a 12.5hour shift starting 23hours after I finish the block of 5 nights you have given me. You may find that I may be a little sleep deprived and with that a little unsafe to practice.

However, if you do decide that this is ok to do then, do not be miffed if I then speak to the occupational health department regarding this. Also I think you may need to refresh your memory about the Health and Safety at Work Act (HASWAS), I do believe there are laws to protect workers from tyrants:bow:

ROFL if only............

I so want to say this to 2 people I work with:

1) If you think I suck that bad at shaving people before surgery, dont roll your eyes, catch an attitude with me, and when asking me to do it over, ask me without attitude! And I shave well, and nothing is good enough for the both of you!

2) If you dont like the way I do things dont criticize and dont catch an attitude. Tell me how not to do it the next time

3) If you think I suck that bad, tell me to my face instead of talking about me behind my back and tell me instead of being a *****, and dont do it in front of patients!

4) Everyone else has given me rave reviews including the higher ups and you being the manager, you have given me attitude, treated me differently than others, and given me mixed reviews, and to you too, if you think I suck dont talk down to me and dont do it in front of patients!

I feel better now!

Oh, I so agree....don't ya just hate it when another nurse talks down or corrects or criticizes in front of pts. OR other staff.....

Remember, the reason for this.....to make themselves look and feel better because they have a poor self image. !!

Yeah. What she said.

I already have balls, maybe you need to grow a pair.

I have actually said this to my boss once. I think you could probably guess I don't work there anymore.

Dear Missmanager:

How come when you were on maternity leave I GOT Press-Gainey kudos and thank you cards from my patients? Since you are back, there have been none. Am I to suspect this is just between you and the trash can?

It turned out that the nurse who has been giving me hell went off her "psych meds" and is in the middle of being manicky and witchy and she is being spoken to.

"If you are so concerned about customer care efforts, why don't YOU go walk up and down the halls and ask anyone if they need to potty while I hang the emergent nitro drip and start the chest pain protocol. Or I'LL go go ask everyone about potty while YOU do the emergent things. See how this works? You're always harping on teamwork - you have a license - get to it! CUSTOMERS FIRST!"

OOOh, that happens where I work too! Also, I once found an empty box of chocolates in the trash can that said "To the Weekend Staff" when I picked up a Thursday Nightshift. She didn't even leave the card for us at the weekend.
