Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
Yes, someone actually said that, she didn't say it to me she said it to this single mom w/ 2 kids-but I was offended by it too. Since I have been here (RNschool) 2 people have said that to me. I started RNschool at 23 & I was getting asked that same thing, "why are you HERE" or "why are you at ***** University?" just last night some1 asked me that & my former roomate asked me that too the beginning of last semester. So annoying, & when I try to explain-they cut me off & say, "you don't have to tell me, I was just wondering" so basically they don't want my reason b/c it will justify me being here. I mean like what would u do in that situation?
The majority of the people in my classes are absolutly wonderful, but somethings I just don't understand....
*If you can't stand to touch, or be touched by people because your such a germ-o-phobe, what are you going to do when you actually have to deal with a real pt?
*To the same person NO you CAN'T do EVERYTHING with GOLVES on (She brought this up during BP)

sr7489, try being in your late 40s in ns....i was under the impression you were much older
I don't care how old you are. You made it into a program that took no one who had less than a 3.96, that is respectable. That being said, don't tell me you are in your early fifties when you are clearly pushing 70. I have a mother and a grandmother and I know which one the back of your neck and the tops of your hands resemble. Be proud of your life and own up to it. So what if you can barely walk and have to ask the teacher to repeat most things she says. You somehow got the GPA so you must have it together, right?I doubt ointment and tape are a miracle and you must be suffering from dementia if you think that story is true.
I don't care if you are a cna, r.t., emt, we are all here to learn and not to hear tales from your summer job.
Get laid every once in a while, you might be more likeable :)
You are in nursing school because you want to be a doctor. Huh. I remember some of the crazy things I thought at 19, so I won't hold it against you.
Newsflash, all the teachers are female and all the male students are married. So why all the cleavage? I don't really need to see it, put on a hoodie.
No need to giggle and flirt. He's married, just act human.
How did you get so organized? Please help me!
Don't argue with the teachers.
Get some exercise, it's great for stress relief.
Get your BP checked, your face is bright red and it's distracting me.
Be less uptight please.
If you can't lift the textbook how do you expect to work with patients.
Let's have fun while we learn, it's not a competition anymore!
wether or not I like you, I hope to see you all on graduation day:nurse:
april&em....
I read your post and something kind of got to me...it was the comment about the red face.
I'm obviously not in your nursing school, but it did bring up something I would like to say to my fellow nursing students and since that's what this thread is about, here goes!
Personally, my blood pressure is fine. My face is very red because I am light-complected and Irish and I have rosacea (an actual medical condition) and there's not much I can do about it. On a good day, it looks like a mild sunburn. On a bad day, there are breakouts associated with it.
I am a woman so I suppose I could wear makeup to offend people less. But makeup irritates it so I don't wear it (plus, it gets on the white collar of the ugly uniform we have to wear and it's very hard to get out in the wash). I am more interested in my own health and comfort than I am in enhancing my ornamental value to other people.
It's hard enough not being good looking without people making assumptions about you. You see, rosacea also tends to make the eyes bloodshot. I use breath drops for the same reason I wear deodorant - to be polite and because our teachers told us to buy and use them. Please do not assume I am an impaired nursing student because I have red eyes and a red face. I do not drink alcohol at all, even socially (partly because it makes the skin condition worse). I know some of the nursing students at my school drink, though, because they brag about how they go out after class and get smashed.
1. stop trying to figure out who's failing the class when the teachers posts the grades. only be concerned about your grade and not everyone elses.
2. please dont talk about the Mediao you plan on making or letting the married guy in class slap your butt! and to the married guy... treat your wife with more respect...stop asking for orgies and talking about hott ladies.
3. don't brag about not studying and just barely passing. i wouldnt be proud of that & if you make it through school, im worried for your patients!
4. stop complaining about things the teacher didn't show or tell you. suck it up & figure it out! complaining for 2 hours wont get you anywhere.
5. im not here to make friends or 'be popular' (yes, some students think they are the popular ones out of 38). im here to learn as much as possible, if i make friends then great, but thats not why im here. and just because im quiet doesnt make me stuck up.
Stop using the excuse that you are a bad test taker when you get low grades on your tests, you have no common sense or compassion either. Those two together mean you have nothing going for you in this field.
"No the finger condom is not used to get a urine sample from an infant"
How come your the only one who is allowed to talk in the class?
Oh, ok, so now you want to study and the whole cklass should be quiet just for you.
Where have you been the past year??? We learned that 4 quarters ago!!!
Just because you got a good grade on a test doesn't mean you can dance around the classroom
Why am I getting the same grade as you and you do nothing.
STOP CHEATING!
I can't believe they actually let someone like you in here!
I am not a stuck up because i keep to myself. I am smart because i keep to myself. I dont need the drama that seems to be there when you have 50 woman in one room- were all here for the same thing!!!
You all think this is highschool!!!And you all are constantly talkin about eachother behind everyones back!!! I dont care who she is sleeping with or why your in a fight or your supposed best friends personal problems!!!there personal and you obviously arent as good of a friend as she thinks now are you?
I hate two faced people and Liars- i remember details so when your sobbing to me about how bad you have it and then the next day its a whole different story- you dont have my sympathy!
you are not better than any of us- so get over yourself. Oh and by the way sucking up to a teacher to stay in the program, doesnt mean youll be a nurse. The NCLEX is given on a compuer, not by a guy who you can flirt with- and the rules should apply to EVERYONE, including those that can kiss butt but cant study because there to busy getting drunk and partyin on the weekends!(heard it straight from the horses mouth)
thanks to the few girls that have been there to support me and pick me up on days when i cant seem to do it myself!I probably wouldnt have made it thorugh without our lunch time councelling sessions- boy oh boy if you ever want to get out of nursing, become a therapist!!!I LOVE YOU AND WILL MISS YOU DEARLY:bowingpur

Cheating may help you pass the class but doesn't mean anything when it comes to NCLEX. Cant cheat on that one so why do it in class?
Just because you didn't study for the test doesn't mean you can TAKE my flashcards so I can't study....so annoying when I go to get my flashcards out of my bag, and they are across the room with someone else. Asking to borrow them when I am done would just be to much.
